Austin Cemetery Lots Sold, Police Paid in 1869

Cemetery Property Changes: The city council voted to sell cemetery lots #254 and #255 while condemning lots #249 and #260 to be converted into a street through the cemetery.

Police and City Services Funded: The council approved nearly $193 in monthly expenses, including $120 for three police officers' November salaries, plus costs for jail operations, animal removal, and equipment maintenance.

Medical Bill Delayed: A doctor's invoice for medical services provided to a patient in Austin was presented but tabled (postponed) for future consideration.

Routine Government Operations: The city secretary's November financial report was received and reviewed during this regular monthly council meeting held on a Monday evening.

Council Record December the 6th 1869 7 o'clock P.M. Council met pursuant to adjournment No Mayor Leander Brown Mayor in the Chair Roll called, the following Aldermen answered to their names Aldermen Burnett, Barnes, Konschke and Collins On motion the minutes of the last meeting was not read. Alderman Collins the following resolution which was read and adopted Be it Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin that Lots No 254 and 255 in the City Cemetery are hereby ordered for Sale and Lots No. 249 and 26a and hereby Condemned for to be used as a Street in the said Cemetery. An account was presented in favor of Doctor Made Manfeter for Medical Services rendered in the case of [illegible] Cassidy [illegible] in the City of Austin and on Motion it was laid on the table. The Monthly report for the Month of November was presented by the City Secretary & received. The following appropriations were asked for and was made by a unanimous Vote. Victor Brown Policeman November 1869 | 40.00 Williams Mensick do do | 40.00 William McWilliams do do | 40.00 John Peterson for taking care of Engine | 6.00 Feeding Prisoners | 2.50 Removing dead Animals | 15.00 Porter Hire for Two Months &c | 6.00 Browned do to bringing in Hose | 43.00 | 192.79 On motion the Council adjourned to the next regular Meeting A.
