Austin's Hospital Block Sale & Budget Approvals

City Attorney Resignation: James W Smith resigned from his position as City Attorney, and the council accepted his resignation.

Hospital Block Sale Approved: The council unanimously voted to sell the city's Hospital Block, determining it was in Austin's financial interest.

City Bylaws Reaffirmed: Municipal bylaws were reviewed and unanimously continued without changes from the previous year.

May 1870 Budget Approved: The council allocated over $204 for city expenses, including $120 for three police officers' salaries, prisoner care, engine maintenance, and bridge repairs.

Council Room June the 6th 1871 7 Oclock P.m. Council met pursuant to adjournment His Honor Leander Bamon Mayor in the Chair. Roll called and the following Alderman Answered to their Names Alderman Bennett, Raves, Dounschke Collins and Fox The reading of the minutes of the last regular and called meetings were dispensed with. The City Sextons report was read. and received The resignation of James W Smith esquire, City Attorney was received and accepted On motion, the Byelaws was brought up before the Council, examined and by a unanimous Vote, continued as it was on last year. On motion, the selling of the Hospital Block was brought before the Board, and it was unanimously considered to be for the interest of the City to sell the same.
