58 City Council Room Austin, March 13, 1871.
The City Council met pursuant to adjournment. Roll called. Present: His Honor the Mayor. Aldermen Thos. W. Grooms, J. Broomont, J. L. Burks, C. Eggleston, Henry Madison, S. Maesins, J. H. Robinson. The following accounts were returned by Alderman S. Maesins, chairman of the Financial Committee, and recommended to be paid to the respective parties to whom they were due, to-wit:
Lense Carrington, attending to Joe Egan's house, for month of February " 6.00 Jas. L. Burke & Bro. for sundry materials and carpenters work " 31.70 Jas. G. Zingelmann, feeding prisoners for month of February " 60.50 Thos. Klein, feeding 3 prisoners on March 7. Paid " 5.33 M. W. Grooms, wood and coal, 2 coffins &c "33.00 Suter & Hirschfeld, sundries for office use " 3.60 Horan & Thompsone, blank books & stationery " 47.05 Scurry & Bro., San Antonio, printing Scurry " 39.20 Thompson & Hemistell, sundries for street work & office use " 13.40 Frank Herries, police labor. Paid " 12.50 J. H. Scurry, office furniture Scurry " 23.45 S. Domitelli, letter press, repairs of street tools Paid " 16.70 S. H. Orr, paid work for Month & 1st of Feb. & repairs. " 20.00 (Scurry $62.85, Paid $312.85.) Total $ 379.70
On motion of Alderman S. Eggleston to make an appropriation of $62.85 in currency, and $312.85 in cash for the purpose of paying the above accounts. The ayes and nayes were taken, resulting as follows, Ayes: Thos. W. Grooms, J. Broomont, J. L. Burks, C. Eggleston, Henry Madison, S. Maesins, J. H. Robinson. Nays - none. Thus the motion was unanimously adopted.
A petition of E. C. Dewey was referred to the Street Committee, a petition of B. [illegible] was referred to the Health Committee.
On motion of Alderman Maesins, the City Council adjourned until Friday, March 15th, at 7 ½ P. M. P.J. [illegible] Recorder
