Austin Property Tax Assessments Approved

Wednesday, May 10, 1871 regular

Property tax assessments for Austin's first ward were officially approved and confirmed for 1871 after no property owners filed appeals against the valuations.

The city council convened as a special "Board of Appeal" to review real estate and personal property assessments, following procedures required by law.

No objections were raised by property owners, allowing the assessments—which had already been approved by the mayor—to be quickly confirmed without dispute.
