City Council Room Austin Jany 16th 1872 The City Council met pursuant to a call of his Honor the Mayor. Present; His Honor the Mayor Alderman. J. L. Buass, S. Moussina, H. Meadison, J. H. Robinson, E. Wheelock. Absent . Wm Brouggerhoff
The Report of the City Sexton for the Month of December 1871 was read and accepted. Petition of W. H. Puckett. J. A. Cummings H. Thompson and others being read was referred to the Street Committee. J. L. Buass. Chairman Petition of G. L. Robinson was read and on motion of J. H. Robinson that it be laid on the table vote was taken and motion adopted. Petition of Raisin Prather having been read on motion of Alderman Meadson that the Petition be laid on the table a vote was taken and motion adopted. Petition of S. G. Buddington being read on Motion of Alderman J. L. Buass that it be laid on the table a vote was taken and resulted in being tabled. Petition of A. J. Harrell J. M. Hamilton and S. W. Collins was read and on motion of Alderman Moussina the following Resolution was made. Resolved that the City Marshal be in- structed to remove the obstructions and open the streets as requested in their report of Dec 29th 1871 a vote being taken to wit, Yeas Alderman J. L. Buass S. Moussina H. Meadson J. H. Robinson E. M. Wheelock.

Petition of James P Mc Kinney to open a wagon road to El Paso was read and on motion of Alderman Mousena the following Resolution was adopted. Resolved that the City Council of the City of Austin authorize Alderman Wheelock to visit the Counties lying between the City of Austin and Fredericksburg Texas for the purpose of consulting with the Citizens & County Authorities thereof and obtaining an expression of their views as to assisting the City of Austin in opening and making [illegible] a wagon road from the City of Austin by the most direct route to El Paso. On motion of Alderman Mousena the following Ordinance was adopted. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Austin that the Ordinance informally passed at a former meeting of the Council reducing the license for the Exhibition, of Circuses and Menageries from Fifty to Seventy five Dollars be adopted and that in article 124 the word Fifty be altered to read Seventy five, On motion of Alderman Robinson the rules were suspended and the ordinance having passed its second and third reading was finally passed by a unanimous vote. On motion of Alderman Mousena the following resolution was adopted Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin that the Mayor be authorized to issue Warrants to the amount of $5.000 and to pay the same to Messrs Mills & Smith for the building of the Iron Bridges on Shoal and Waller creeks in the City of Austin as per Ordinance of March 16th 1874 and on motion of Alderman J. K. Robinson the rules were suspended and the resolution having passed its second and third reading was adopted by the following vote. Yeas. Aldermen. J. L. Brush S. Mousena " K. Madison J. K. City Attorneys Moores Bill for $305.00 being presented was on motion of Alderman Mussiua adopted and by an unanimous vote accepted. The Committee on Mcfore Odow of Zimpleman's petition presented their Report and on Motion of Alderman Mussiua the following Resolution was adopted Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin that the Mayor be authorized to issue a City Warrant to Mofors. Odow and Zimpleman for $1.000. in Gold payable in one year from date. On motion of Alderman Madison the rules were suspended and the Resolution after passing its second and third reading was finally adopted by an unanimous vote. Petition of Marshall Evans was presented and read and referred to Committee on Finance. On motion of Alderman S. Mussiua to adjourn the motion was adopted and the council adjourned to its next regular meeting

We the Undersigned do agree to pay to the Mayor of the City of Austin for the use of the City Hall One Hundred Dollars for the first Month and Fifty Dollars for any months thereafter. He agreeing to give us the use of the Hall on Monday, Wednesday & Friday night of one week and Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday nights on the weeks when the Hall is not occupied by the Turnverein association. Also that we shall have the use of the Hall during the day of every Saturday, and at any other time when the Hall is not otherwise
