Petition of Conrads Gaslight Company was read and on motion of Alderman Bvaas, the following resolution was passed: Be resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, that the Mayor be requested to appoint a Committee of three Aldermans to investigate the feasibility of the plan as set forth in the following Petition and report at the next meeting of the City Council. We propose to erect works and furnish your City with good fixed Gas. We ask of you the exclusive priveledge for Thirty years and a contract for as many Street lights as you may designate on Congress Avenue from Water Street to the Capitol, and its surroundings, on Pecan Street from Congress Avenue to East Avenue and such other places as the consumption of Gas may warrant the extension of the pipes. Massina Alderman Brueggahoff offered the following Resolution Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, that for the better protection of the City, the Mayor be requested to increase the Police force by appointing two more policeman; the Resolution was adopted by a unanimous vote. Mr. Klappenbuch presented to the City Council a Map of the City of Austin for them to purchase and Alderman Brueggerhoff offered the following resolution Be it resolved by the City Council of Austin, that the Mayor be requested to appoint a Committee to investigate the feasibility of the purchase. The resolution was adopted, this Hon the Mayor appointed Alderman Brueggerhoff & S. L. Psaas. Alderman Brueggerhoff offered the following resolution Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, that the Bill of Mr. Klappenbuch for the City Maps be registered and audited for payment; the resolution was adopted by a unanimous vote. Alderman Brueggerhoff offered the following resolution Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, that in the consideration, that Mrs. [illegible] [illegible] discontinued her theatre within the first six months, that they had taken out License for, and the first two payments having been made leaving two Notes of $62 [illegible] each unpaid, it is hereby resolved that the said two Notes be given to Mrs S. A verbal report of the Fire Committee to turn over the Trunk to the new Fire Company, was given and a full report will be made to present to the next meeting of the Council as also in reference to the moving and erection of the Engine House. Alderman Robinson offered the following resolution Be it resolved by the City council of the City of Austin, that the Committee appointed to select a site for the erection of a church for the colored people be instructed to allow the said Church society to erect a church in the rear of the other colored church and on the same block The resolution was adopted by a unanimous vote
