City Council Room Austin Tx January 23, 1873
Council met pursuant to a special call of His Honor the Mayor, His Honor the Mayor in the Chair, the Roll being called the following Aldermen answered to their names,
Aldermen S. B. Sneed E. Bremond Ed. Christian Geo. Susmann Wm Brueggerhoff J. W. Hannig A. Scholz J. W. Robinson
His Honor the Mayor informed the Council that the meeting was called together to take in consideration the transfer of south half of Block No 59 to the Central Railway Company, Alderman Sneed explained that no legal transfer could be made until a patent was issued from the State of Texas to the city of AustinWhereupon Aldm. Sneed moved that a Bill to entitled "An Act confirming the title to certain property in the city of Austin" with a memorial be presented to the present Legislature to grant to the city of Austin a patent of said half Block which motion was unanimously adopted.
Aldms Bremond offered the following resolution Be it resolved by the City Council of the city of Austin That we as members of the City Council of the city of Austin pledge ourselves in case the Legislature of the State of Texas shall by a enactment grant to the city of Austin the title to the South half of Block No 59 in said city to provide for and execute and deliver an absolute conveyance from said city to the Houston and Texas Central Railway Company for said half Block to be used by said Railway Company for the purpose of a passenger Depot. On motion of Aldm. Brueggerhoff the rules were suspended by a two thirds majority and after passing its second and third reading the yeas and nays being called it passed by the following vote,

Alderman Sneed offered the following Ordinance Be it ordained by the city Council of the city of Austin.
Sec 1st That whoever in this city shall permit any hog or hogs owned by them or under their control to escape from their pens enclosures or whoever shall in any manner interfere with any Officer agent or employer of this city in impounding any hog or hogs found running at large in this city shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
Sec 2nd Whoever in this city shall keep any dog at upon or about his or her premises without paying the taxes due said city for the privilege of keeping such dog or without having the collar with plate and number thereon as required by the Ordinances of this city shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
Sec 3rd Whoever in this city shall permit any dry cattle or goats owned by them to run at large within the city shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor. And if any dry cattle goats or hogs shall be found running at large in this city it shall be the duty of the Marshall and Policemen of this city to impound such cattle goats or hogs and after giving five days notice of the time and place of sale with accurate description of the animal to sell such cattle goats or hogs to the highest bidder for cash and that the Officer making such sale after deducting his fees which shall be the same as that of a constable for similar services shall pay the residue of the proceeds of such sale into the city Treasury and that the owner of the cattle goats or hogs so sold upon making satisfactory proof to the Mayor that he be the true owner thereof shall be entitled to have returned to him the money so paid into the city Treasury.
Sec 4th The terms "Dry Cattle" as used in this ordinance includes all neat cattle except milk cows and their sucking calves.
Sec 5th That any person convicted of a misdemeanor under this ordinance shall be punished in the same manner as provided by ordinance for the punishment of other misdemeanors when no specific penalty is prescribed.
Sec 6th That all ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be and the same are hereby

repealed, and that this ordinance take effect and be in force from and after the first day of February 1873. On motion of Aldm. Bremond the rules were suspended by two thirds majority, and after passing its second and third reading the yeas and nays being called it passed by the following votes Yeas Aldermen Sneed Bremond " " Christian Supmann " " Brueggerhoff Hannig " " Scholz Robinson Nays — None On motion of Alderman Robinson the Council adjourned until its regular monthly meeting.

City Council Room Austin Tex. February 5th 1873. City Council met at its monthly meeting. His Hoh the Mayor in the Chair the Roll being called the following Aldermen answered to their names. Aldermen J.B. Sneed S. Bremond Sd. Christian Geo. Supmann P. Hb. Robinson P. W. Hannig There being a quorum present, the Council proceed to business. Petition of Dr. J. W. Stalnaker asking the appointment as City Physician was read, and refer'd to a Committee of three whereupon His Hon. the Mayor appointed Aldm. Hannig Supmann and Bremond Petition of T. Trepler and p. Delfer praying to have refunded the Licenses paid by them on Jenny Lind tables was read, and referred to Committee on Ordinances Aldm. Sneed moved that the city Sexton be instructeted not to bury the bodies of persons that had died by smallpox within the city Cemetery, which motion was carried. Petition of Mefs. Clark & Stranslinback asking the privilege to open a meat market on Pecan Street was read, and on motion of Aldm. Hannig action was defered until next meeting. Petition of Weed & Bro. asking to be released from
