Robinson moved That the bills be allowed, which motion was carried. On motion the Council adjourned until, Thursday evening March 21, 1873.

City Council Room Austin Tex. March 25th 1873. Called meeting. The Council was called to order by His Honor J. B. Wheeler Present: Aldermen Ed. Christian, Geo. Supsmann " A. Scholz, Wm. Brueggerhoff " J. H. Robinson J. W. Hanning Absent: " J. S. Speed J. Bremond. His Honor the Mayor announced to the Council that the meeting was called for the purpose to take in consideration the propriety of renting the City Market Hall for a number of years to Mr. F. Dohme. Whereupon Ald. Brueggerhoff offered the following Resolution Be it Resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin That the City Market Hall be leased to Mr. F. Dohme for the term of two years at Three hundred Dollars in quarterly coin per annum! payable in advance, and give the security usually required. Which resolution passed unanimously. Ald. Hanning moved to amend lines (10 and 11) in the resolution providing for election of a Chief of the Fire Department to make it read thus: appoint one member from each of the organized fire companies, who shall act as judges at said election. On motion the rules were suspended the resolution passed its second and third read- ing and after the yeas and nays were called it passed by the following vote: Yeas: Ald. 317 Petition of H. Brown asking for privilege to vend butshers meat in the Eastern portion of this City, by paying the minimum price fixed on butcher stalls in the City Market House, was explained. Whereupon the rules were suspended, passed its second and third reading and nays being called it passed by the following votes Yeas Ald. Christian Sussmann “ “ “ Scholtz Brueggerhoff “ “ “ “ Robinson Henring Nays none. Ald. Brueggerhoff offered the following Resolution. “Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, That Girs. Beltknap and Sheridan be invited to be the guests of the city during their stay at this place, and that the Mayor be authorized to appoint such Committees, and make all other necessary arrangements to carry this resolution into effect." Which passed unanimously. Petition of Ed. Wilkerson praying to be appointed on the police force, was read. On motion of Ald. Brueggerhoff the petition was laid on the table. Bills of Dr. B. Hadra Dr. J. Cummings and Nat Monel were presented, and on motion were referred to Committee on Finance. Ald Brueggerhoff moved that the Marshal be authorized to make contract immediately to build the fire cistern on Pecan Street. Which motion was unanimously carried. Ald. Brueggerhoff moved that the Cemetery Committee be authorized to have a well dug within the Cemetery grounds. Which motion was unanimously passed. Ald Brueggerhoff moved that nominations for city Physician be in order. Which motion was carried. Whereupon Dr. J. W. Stalnaker and Dr. B. Hadra were nom- inated as candidates. Ald. Robinson then moved That the Council proceed to election. Which motion was carried. First ballot Dr J. W. Stalnaker received Three votes. Dr B. Hadra received Three (3) votes, second ballot Dr J. W. Stalnaker received Three (3) votes. Dr B. Hadra received Three (3) votes. Ald. Robinson moved a postponement of the election until the next meeting of the Council. Which motion was carried.
