Austin Property Assessments Revised

Property valuations adjusted: The Court of Appeals revised property assessments in Block 69, raising improvements to $4,000 per half-lot and $8,000 for one lot, while also adjusting assessments in Block 173 and Block 81.

1873 city assessment finalized: After corrections were made, the final property assessment for Austin's old city limits was approved and certified to the Mayor.

Water works committee formed: Mayor Wheeler appointed a three-person committee (including himself) to meet with D. Humbolt to discuss plans for developing the city's water system.

346 City Council Room Austin Texas May 09, 1873 The Board of Aldermen sitting as a Court of Appeals Ald. T. E. Sneed as president called the Court to order, the Roll was called. Present: Ald. T.E. Sneed E. Bremond, " " R.H. Boardman W.m Brueggerhoff " J.H. Robinson J.W. Bruning Absent : A. Scholz Geo. Susemann. On motion of Ald. Robinson the improvements on North half of Lot 2, in Block 69, improvements on South half of Lot 2 in Block 69, improvements on South half of 3 in Block 69 were revised to four thousand dollars each half, and improvements on Lot five in Block 69 were raised to eight thousand dollars. Ald. Robinson moved to reduce the Assessment on Lots 1 & 2 in Block 173 from $600 each to $750 each, which motion was carried. On motion of Ald. Bremond : Lot 4 in Block 81 was raised to $750 and Lots 5 & 6 in same Block to $100 each. Ald. Bremond moved that the Assessment of the old city limits for the year 1873 now stands as corrected, and the Court of Appeals adjourn semi die; the President thereof shall certify to the same, and deliver the Assessment to the Mayor, which motion was unanimously carried.
