of Ald. Brueggerhoff the rules were further suspended, the ordinance had the third time, On motion of Ald. Robinson the yeas and nays were then called and the ordinance passed by the following vote: Yeas. Ald. Sneed, E. Bremond, " Boardsmen, Brueggerhoff, " Hannig & Robinson, Nays none Market House Committe to whom was referred the petition of C.P. Haigler to open a meat Market on Pecan Street reported favorable whereupon Ald. Sneed moved that the petition be granted, which motion was carried. Petition of C.R. Johns praying to have opened the Alley in Block No. 81 was on motion of Ald. Brueggerhoff granted. Ald. Sneed offered the following Resolution: Be it Resolved, by the city Council of the city of Austin that a license to retail Spirituous Liquor in quantitiesless than one quart be issued to Carley Cooney on conditions that before such license shall issue the said C. Cooney with two or more good and sufficient sureties to be approved by the Mayor, shall enter into a bond payable to the City of Austin in the penalty of five Hundred Dollars, said bond to be conditioned that said Cooney during the continuance of his license will keep an orderly house that he will not allow a dance House to be kept on his premises, that he will not allow prostitutes or vagabonds or idling persons with no visible means of support to congregate or remain upon or about his premises, which resolution passed unanimously. Suspman, & A. Scholy His Honor, J. B. Wheele, stated that Mr L. K. Miller who was appointed as one of the judges to hold Election for Aldermen of the 9th and 10th wards was not a resident thereof, and he had appointed Mr Denis Corwin to act in place of Mr L. K. The Roll being called, the following Aldermen answered to their names, to wit Ald. G. J. Boardman, Geo. Suspman A. Scholy, Wm Brueggerhoff J. H. Robinson, J. W. Hannig Absent: W. E. Sneed, & C. Bremond Minutes of the months of May and June 1873 were read and adopted. Report of the judges of Election held on the 5th day of July 1873 for Aldermen of the 9th and 10th wards was read wherein it shows that A. H. Longley received the majority votes cast for Alderman of the 9th ward, and Scipie Thompson having received the majority votes cast of the 10th ward. On motion of Ald. Robinson A. H. Longley and Scipie Thompson were declared duly Elected. They were then sworn into Office. Petition of Mes. H. Green & F.
