477 Called meeting of City Council Council Room Austin Tex. June 08, 1874 G. T. Boardman President presiding called the Council to order. The roll called, the following named Aldermen were present: Wm Brueggerhoff, T. Dohme, Dietz, N. B. Mitchell, Robinson & Todd. Absent. Ald. Ed Christian, C. Bremond & A. Scholz. Committee reported favorable on petition of Juls Randle about opening a branch office for Galveston Gift Enterprise. On motion the report was received and license ordered to be issued. Petition of Charles Corney asking for a license to open a barroom in Ward No 1, was read and referred to Police Committee to report at next regular meeting. Petition of Wm Stilfor, John S. Correl and others, praying that the nuisance about Mrs. Huberichis dogs be abated, was read and referred back to petitioners to make complaint to the Mayor. Dr. J. M. Littens account for $67? was read, and on motion referred to the Mayor. Dr. J. M. Littens account for ten dollars, was read and referred to the Mayor. Petition of D. Silva, asking privilege to open Bar Room in Ward 1, was read and on motion referred to Police Committee to report at next regular meeting. Ald. Brueggerhoff, on part of the fire Committee, reported progress on the purchase of furniture for the Central Depot fire Company No 3. Also about proposition of Mr. Edwin about the erection of a tank, and was allowed more time. Ald. Dohme reported about securing a house for female prisoners, stating that he could get one at $45 specie per month, but some repairs were necessary. On motion, the Committee were empowered to make all necessary arrangements and secure the house. 479 Council Room Austin Tex. June 12th 1874 City Council met pursuant to adjournment His Honor the Mayor in the chair called the Council to order. The being called the following named Aldermen answered to their names. AldEd. Christian, Wm Brueggerhoff, F. Dohme, H. N. Netz, N. B. Mitchell, J. H. Robinson, S. H. Todd. Absent Ald. C. Bremond, G. S. Boardman, & A. Scholz. Petition of Orcola Archer, and others, praying for a foot bridge to be built by the city in West Pecan Street next to the stone bridge near Mr. C. S. Wests residence, was read, and referred to Street Committee take such action as they might deem necessary. On motion, the action of the Fire Committee in regard to having a floor put in the engine room of Central Depot Fire Company No 3, was approved. An estimate of the grading done by J. Gimerick on Ash Street, near the new stone bridge in third Ward, was presented and referred to Street Committee. On motion the petition of G. W. Brewin in regard to erecting a water-tank near the Fitzhugh Hotel, was laid on the table. Ald. Brueggerhoff moved that the Street Committee be authorized to advertise for proposals for the building of a bridge over Waller creek on Brenry Street. Carried. Ald. F. Dohme moved that from and after the first day of July 1874, no more salary be paid for a deputy marshal, nor to Mr. Wm. Henrichs. Carried An Ordinance No 39, was introduced, to be entitled; "An Ordinance prescribing the manner of letting the city printing". The ordinance was read. An Ordinance No 46 was introduced, to be entitled An ordinance prescribing the manner how the printed ordinances of the new city code may be amended or repealed. The ordinance was read the first time. On motion the rules were suspended the ordinance read the second time. On motion the rules were further suspended the ordinance read the third time and passed by the following vote. YeasAld. Brueggerhoff, Dohme, Christian, Metz, Mitchell Robinson and Todd. Nays - none Ald. Brueggerhoff moved that the Mayor appoint a committee of two, besides himself and City Attorney, to revise the new ordinances passed and make all necessary arrangements for the publishing of the same. Carried. His Honor appointed on that committee Aldermen Robinson and Brueggerhoff. Ald. Robinson asked permission on part of Police Committee, to make report on petitions of B. Crooney and L. Silva. Permission granted. Whereupon Ald. Robinson moved that the petitions be granted on condition that petitioners fully comply with the requirements of the ordinances, and that they give bond of $500 to keep an orderly house, to be approved by the Mayor.
