482 Called meeting of City Council Austin Tex. June 16th. 1874. His Honor J. B. Wheeler Mayor, in the chair called. the Council to order. Present: Aldermen Wm. Brueggerhoff. G. V. Boardman, W. Johnson, H. H. Metz, J. H. Robinson, F. A. Scholz, and S. H. Todd. Absent: Ald. E. Bremond, Ed. Christian, and S. B. Whittell. His Honor J. B. Wheeler stated that City Marshall Mr. Mc Long had this day tendered his resignation and that the Council was called together to decide whether the resignation of Mr Mc Long be accepted or not; whereupon yeas and nays were called and the resignation accepted by the following vote: Yeas: Ald. Brueggerhoff, Boardman, Johnson, Metz, Robinson, Scholz, and Todd. Nays: none. Ald. Johnson moved that the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to order an Election for a city Marshall to be held on the 30th day of June 1874 at Geo. H. Hancochs building and in the Mayors Office. and to appoint the judges and Clerks of said election. Carried. Fred Sturgis Recorder.

483 On motion of Ald. Bruggerhoff Mr. Ed. Creary was duly declared City Marshall elect for the balance of the term of this administration. Ald. Bruggerhoff introduced the following resolution Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin That the Mayor is hereby authorized to issue bonds of the City of Austin to the amount of Three Thousand dollars, to Messrs Forster, Ludlow & Co. the financial agents of the City of Austin, to complete the settlement with them in full, as agreed upon by the Finance Committee. Said bonds are for exchange of floating debt of the city. Said bonds be exchanged at same price as the bonds authorized to be sold by said financial agents namely, seventy-five cents on the dollar. On motion the rules were suspended the resolution read second time. On motion the rules were further suspended the resolution read the third time and passed by the following vote: Yeas Ald. Boardman, Bruggerhoff, Dohme Metz, Mitchell, Robinson, Scholz & Todd. Nays: none. On motion of Ald. Robinson, the report from Printing Committee on the bid of Cardwell & Walker for the printing of the new City Code, was received and approved. On motion of Ald. Robinson, the report from Printing Committee on the bid of J.D. Elliott for the city printing, was received & approved. On motion of Ald. Bruggerhoff the report from Street Committee on the bid of J. Sheehan for the building of a stone bridge over Waller Creek, on Sherry Street was received & approved. Ald. Bruggerhoff that the Police Committee be authorized to draw up an ordinance to regulate the salary of Policemen. Carried. Ald. Bruggerhoff moved introduced the following resolution. authorized to draw upon his warrant such amount of money from the city treasury as will pay off the police force and city officers, for the month of June 1874. out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated. The resolution passed by the following vote: Yeas Ald. Boardman, Wm. Brueggerhoff, Dossin, Hetty, Mitchell, Robinson, Scholz, & Todd. Mc. Cleary was then installed as City Marshal. Ald. Boardman was excused from further attendance. An ordinance was introduced No 47 to be entitled: "An ordinance providing for the appointment of public weighers and regulating the same." The ordinance was read. On motion the rules were suspended, the ordinance read the second time. On motion the rules were further suspended, the ordinance read third time and passed by the following vote: Yeas, Ald Brueggerhoff, Dossin, Hetty, Mitchell, Robinson, Scholz, and Todd. Nays: none. The following resolution was introduced, and unanimously passed, to wit: "Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Grafton, That the city Attorney be and he is hereby, authorized and directed to revise, digest and prepare the various ordinances of a general nature for printing in book form." An ordinance was introduced No 48 to be entitled: "An ordinance relative to weights and measures." The ordinance was read. On motion the rules were suspended, the ordinance read the second time.
