The Mayor in the chair. Aldermen present: Wm Brueggerhoff, F. Dohme, N. B. Mitchell, J. H. Robinson, and S. H. Todd. No quorum being present, Council adjourned to the first Monday in February Fred Sterling Recorder
Regular Meeting of City Council Austin Tex Feb 3rd 1870
Mayor J. B. Wheeler presiding; present Alder men G. S. Boardman, Wm Brueggerhoff, Ed. Christian, F. Dohme, N. B. Mitchell, J. H. Robinson and S. H. Todd. Absent Ald. [illegible] On motion the reading of the Minutes were dispensed with. The report from the Judges of the special election held on the seventh day of [illegible] for an Alderman of the seventh Ward, was read, showing that T. A. Ben nent received six votes and S. Piper sixty-three votes. The report was received and adopted. On motion, S. Piper was declared Alderman elect for the seventh Ward, and sworn into office and seated. The report from the Judges of the special election held for an Alderman of the first Ward, on the 22nd day of January 1870, was read, showing that O. H. Cullen received twenty-five votes, James Simms twenty-four votes and J. A. Hash fifteen votes. A protest from J. Simmons, proposing to contest the election of O. H. Cullen before the Board of Aldermen, was then read, whereupon Alder Brueggerhoff moved that the report from the Judges and the protest from J. Simms be referred to a select committee of three, with authority to investigate the report of said
