• Election Officials Appointed: The city council designated judges and clerks for Austin's November 1875 election across all 10 wards, with each official receiving $2.50 for their services

Called Meeting of the City Council Austin Texas, October 18, 1875 Present: Mayor T. B. Wheeler, in the chair. Aldermen – T. F. Boardman, Wm. Bruggerhoff, O. H. Cullen, T. Dohme, N. B. Mitchell and J. H. Todd. Absent – Aldermen E. Bremond, Ed. Christian J. H. Robinson and S. Sifer. The Mayor stated that the meeting was called to appoint the judges and Clerks for holding the city election on the first Monday in November 1875 whereupon motion, the following named parties were appointed the judges, to wit; First Ward – H. C. Bengenar, J. E. Schneider, and W. T. Patterson. Second Ward – S. F. Dunlap, C. Huberich and Ben Honnet. Third Ward – C. Krohn, J. B. Morris and W. W. Townsend. Fourth Ward – J. H. Pope, E. Raven and J. W. McKnight. Fifth Ward – J. Stringer, Max Maas and J. H. Burns. Sixth Ward – W. N. Shanahan, J. M. Peacock and David G. Whiting. Seventh Ward – Geo. Hancock, Dennis Corwin and L. Schoolher. Eighth Ward – S. G. Haynie, P. L. Hopkins and A. C. Strong. Ninth Ward – C. C. Bartholomew, J. H. Haughton and H. McClusky. Tenth Ward – T. M. Noble, J. Billingsley and A. S. Roberts. On motion of Alderman Cullen the Mayor was authorized to appoint other judges, in case any of the above named should fail to act, and that they shall be required to act as clerks and shall receive for their services the sum of $2.50 each. On motion of Alderman Bruggerhoff, the Mayor was authorized to have a street lamp erected between Mr. von Rosenberg’s residence and Mr. Schroeder’s store. On motion the Council adjourned. Fred S.
