Called Meeting of The City Council. Austin Texas December 28th 1875 Mayor J. B. Wheeler in the chair. Present:- Aldermen A. H. Cook J. W. Chandler A. Deffenbaugh, J. Q. Goodale, D. A. James, J. Larmour, M. A. Taylor, Absent. Aldermen E. Bremond, J. H. Robinson and D. Sheeks. The Mayor stated that the meeting was called to consider a petition from M. D. Mather, President of the City Water Company. Whereupon the petition was read, as follows: To the Hon. the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the city of Austin Gents. - The undersigned petitioners in view of the facts that they have been delayed in the construction and completion of their Works within the time specified in their contract with the City, on account of delays with contractors, transportation and unfavorable weather, and delays occasioned by the fact that the Works are now in progress of construction are far more extensive and complete than stipulated in the contract, hereby request of your Honorable Body that the time for the completion of said Works as per contract be extended to the first day of February 1875. M. D. Mather, President of City Water Co. The petition was granted by the following vote: Yeas - Aldrn. Cook, Deffenbaugh, Goodale, James, Larmour, and Taylor. Alderman Cook introduced the following: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin: That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to apply so much of the sinking fund as may be necessary for paying the interest

on Bonds that will fall due on the first day of January 1876 And that all moneys collected in the way of taxes or otherwise be immediately turned into the City Treasury to replace said amount to the credit of the sinking fund, and that no appropriation be made until said borrowed money is replaced; The resolution was adopted, by the following vote: Yeas Aldr.
