Called Meeting of City Council
Council Chamber Sept 29th 1876 The Council was called to order at 12½ PM Mayor Wheeler in the Chair. Roll called and the following Members answered. Aldermen Bremond, Chandler, Cook, Diffenbaugh, Goodale James, and Sheets. Absent Aldermen Garmon Robinson and Taylor. Quorum present The Mayor informed the council that he had called them together at the request of J.J. Brown, the lessee of the old Mille property, Mr Brown being present, stated that he desired the Council to grant him further time to comply with the terms of his lease, that he had every assurance of success in completing the Milly and supplying it with all necessary Machinery if the council would extend the time to June next. Alderman Sheets introduced the following Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Alvaton. That the time for complying with the terms of the contract Made with J.J. Brown on the 18th day of February 1875 for the Construction of a Cotton and Woolen Mill be extended until the first day of June 1877
