Mayor to Austin Texas Dear Sir I beg leave to state to your honor that the people in the neighborhood of the Small Pox Hospital are very anxious to get the house in which I have a school, I have made arrangements so far as I am concerned for them to have it, but one of the rooms has in it, bedsteads, stoves, feather beds and other goods which were used by the small pox patients, of course this property should be saved for the City, or destroyed so that the disease would not again be disseminated. I have been informed that no danger could come from moving all furniture stoves &c to town, but that the feather bed might impart the disease. Will your honor please direct the Marshal to at once remove or destroy the property, as to you may seem right, safe and proper, as the parties want immediate possession of the house. Trusting that you will act on this matter at once I remain Yours Very Truly J.B. Athuler
