Alley Paving Tax Reduced: Council reconsidered and significantly lowered a property tax for paving an alley in Block 69, reducing it from 1% to 1/60th of 1% after aldermen voted to amend the ordinance.

New Rules for Carriages & Taxis: Council passed an ordinance establishing designated stands (parking areas) for vehicles used to transport people around the city.

Bridge Construction Proposal: A contractor named J.P. Downie proposed building a bridge across Waller Creek on Mesquit Street, with payment split between completion and two installments over a year.

Accessibility Exception Granted: The council approved a petition from James Davis, described as a cripple, allowing him to sell goods without obtaining a business license.

Routine Maintenance: Council authorized whitewashing (cleaning/painting) the interior of the City Markethouse.

347 Called Meeting of City Council October 12, 1877 Council called to order at 7:50 Oclock PM, Mayor De Cues in the chair, Roll called and the following Members Answered Aldermen, Bremond. Doffenbaugh James. Maas. Robinson and Withers. Absent: Aldermen Cook. Seymour. Taylor and Ward Alderman Ja.... moved a call of the Council. Call sustained and the Marshal was directed to bring in the absentees Alderman Taylor came in, answered and took his seat On Motion of Alderman Bremond the Call of the Council was suspended The Journals of the meetings of October 5th and 8th (the last two meetings) were read On Motion of Alderman Withers the Journal of October 8th was amended by striking out the words Wilmyns Store and inserting the words Swedish China in the resolution for the motion of a Street Lamp at that point On Motion of Alderman Withers the Journal of last Meeting was amended by inserting the name of W T Clark in place of A. Eans who was appointed at that meeting as Judge of Election in Ward 11 of On Motion of Alderman Withers the Journals of the last two meetings as amended were approved #116 Alderman Robinson moved to reconsider the vote by which the Ordinance was passed at last meeting levying a tax of one per cent on the property for paving the Alley in Block No 69 The Yeas and Nays ordered and the motion to reconsider carried by the following vote Yeas Aldermen Bremond Doffenbaugh James Maas. Robinson, Taylor and Withers. Nays None #116 Alderman Robinson moved to amend the Ordinance levying a tax of one per cent by striking out the words one per cent and inserting the words one Sixty of one per cent. Nays None Petition of James Davis a cripple asking permission to peddle without license On motion of Alderman Bremond the petition was granted J P Downie submitted a proposition to construct a bridge across Waller Creek on Mesquit street for $[illegible] per Cubic yard in City Payments. The terms of payment to be one half the amount of Cost of Construction to be paid on completion and acceptance of the bridge and the balance in two equal payments at six and twelve months from date of acceptance of bridge On Motion of Alderman James the Communi- cation of Mr Downie was received Communication from City Market Master was presented asking authority to have the inside of the City Markethouse whitewashed On Motion of Alderman Robinson the com- munication of the Marketmaster was received and and the work ordered done under the superintendance of the Market Master On Motion of Alderman Taylor the Council adjourned John D [illegible] City Clerk
