Austin Approves $5,000 for Odd Fellows Temple

405 Called Meeting City Council February 08, 1878 Council called to order at 12 Mo Mayor DeGress in the Chair Roll called and the following Members answored. Alderman Grow. Brooker. Millett Miller Markley. Mortz. Aralle. Platt and Strong Absent Alderman Sheehan. Quorum present The Mayor states to council that he had called them together for the purpose of laying before them, Certain Ordinances. Making appropriation for the location of the building of the grand temple of the Right Worthy Grand Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, for their consideration and action Alderman Markley introduced the following Ordinance An Ordinance leasing a public square in the City of Austin, now unoccupied to the R. W. G. Lodge of I. O. O. F. of the State of Texas The Ordinance was read Alderman Grow moved to suspend the rules and put the Ordinance on its second reading The Yeas and Nays Ordered and the motion to suspend the rules carried by the following vote Yeas. Aldermen Grow. Brooker. Millett Miller Markley. Mortz Aralle. Platt and Strong Nays None The Ordinance was read the second time Alderman Miller moved to further suspend the rules and put the Ordinance on its third reading The Yeas and Nays ordered and the motion to further suspend the rules carried by the following vote.
