Called Meeting of City Council Austin Texas October 15. 1878. Mayor De lness presiding. Roll called Present Aldermen Crow, Brooker, Heitz, Raven, Sheehan and Strong. Quorum present. Alderman Crow moved a call of the Counncil. Call suspended. A communication from Smith Pershman Recorder Austin Fire Dep't dated Octr 14. 1878 was then read. stating that at a meeting of the officers of the Fire Dep't held on the 12th of Octy, a two-third majority of all the officers being present. an election for Chief and Ass't Chief Engineer was had resulting as follows; viz. For Chief: Jas. A. Nade " Ass't Chief August Zeller On motion the communication was received and the action of the Officers of the Dep't confirmed. Petition of W. J. Anderson and J. H. S. Pealone to open a butcher market outside the market limits. Petition granted. Petition of Jas. B. Zumpelyman to have his warehouse situated on the corner of Pine Street and East Avenue recognized as a cotton warehouse. Petition granted. Petition of B. G. Wading and J. A. Bromfeld to establish a shooting gallery on Congress Avenue. Petition granted. The following resolution was read first time. A resolution removing and placing the Fire alarm bell of this city. Resolved that the sum of Two Hundred and fifty dollars or so much thereof as may be necessary be and the same is hereby appropriated to move the Fire alarm bell from its present situation to the Market House.
