Quorum present. The minutes of February 3d 1879 were read and adapted. Petition of Reagan and Sims to retail spirituous liquors. Granted. Petition of S. A. Jaqua to retain his wood yard at its present location within the Fire limits. On motion the petition was laid on the table. Petition of [illegible] T. H. Abell to have his taxes for 1878 refunded. Referred to Finance Committee. Petition of John Dougherty for $66.52 being amount of balance due on a judgment obtained against the City, together with a resolution appropriating said amount. Petition received and resolution read first time. On motion the rules were suspended and the resolution placed on its second reading by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Crow, Brooker, Millett, Halle, Platt, Farm, Sheehan, Strong and Vaughan. By Alderman Platt, Be it enacted by the City Council that a committee of three be appointed to inquire into the conduct of the City Attorney respecting his advice to the County Judge of Travis County, advising said County Judge to perpetuate the injunction restraining the Collector of City taxes from asoff the International and Great Northern Railroad Company in accordance with the assessment made by the City Assessor on property of said railroad Company. Resolution adopted and Aldermen Platt, Crowder and Strong appointed as such committee. By Alderman Parrin. Resolved that the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to take up bonds Nos 160, 161, 162, 163, 164, 165 & 166 of the City of Austin and pay two per cent premium thereon with interest to March 4th 1879.
