• Saengerfest Event Space: City Council approved closing an alley in Block 111 for four days to serve as a dining hall for the Saengerfest (a German-American singing festival).
• Water Infrastructure: Granted permission for a property owner named Gillewyn to install a standpipe (water tower/distribution point) on West Pecan Street at no cost to the city, with the City Marshal and Mr. Erwin to determine its exact location.
• Unpaid Meeting: Alderman Farnes successfully moved to have council members receive no compensation for attending this particular meeting.

Called Meeting of City Council Austin Texas April 14, 1879. Mayor De Grosa Presiding. Roll Called. Present Aldermen Crow, Croaker, Platt, Farnes, Strong & Bingham. 6 Absent Aldermen Millet, Hertz, Nathe and Sheehan Quorum Present. The following business was transacted. Petition of Property holders of Block No 111 to close up the alley in said Block for 4 days, said alley to be used as a dining hall for the Saengerfest, together with the following resolution. Resolved that the petition of the above named citizens be granted. Resolution adopted and petition granted. Petition of Gillewyn to erect a stand pipe on West Pecan Street near Cooks corner together with the following report of the Street committee. We recommend privilege as requested without expense to the city, also the City Marshal and Mr. Erwin may agree upon its location. G. Gross N. M. Strong. Report adopted and petition granted. Alderman Farnes moved that no Alder- men shall receive pay for this meeting. Motion carried. On motion the Council adjourned. -Approved May 7, 1879 L. M. Bradley City Clerk.
