A fine of one dollar was entered against aldermen Kinney Cook Morten & Radkey for non attendance at this meeting
The minutes of the regular meeting of August the 7 1882 was read and approved
The fine entered against alderman Kuppertz for non attendance at former Council meeting was remitted
The petition of S Brunkerhoff was granted asking that the council grant to him permis sion to erect scales at the same point formally occupied by scales belonging to Webb & Bd.
The petition of Mary I Thompson asking that the Council refund to her fine paid by her in the Mayors Court for her schmack Thompson Petition Tabled
A Petition of Citizens residing in the vicinity of the H & T C R R protesting against the passage of an Ordinance regulating the speed of trains through the City of Austin Petition referred to the Ordinance Committee
The following is the report of the street Committee (which was adopted) on the petition of Citizens asking that the Council compel the H & T C R R to make good crossing over its track on Blanco and, and Bower streets

Alderman Metz called up an ordinance which was read third time regulating the salary of the City Engineer and repealing that part of Section 4. of an Ordinance passed Dec 29th 1887. making the salary of the City Engineer $500.00 per annum and reenacting an Ordinance No 495 making the salary of the City Engineer $1200.00 per annum On motion the Ordinance passed by the following Vote Yeas Aldermen Metz Schubert Bruggeshoff Buppitz Plath Wilson

The Vote taking the ordinance on its third reading was reconsidered and section 1st of said Ordinance amended by inserting the word one mile instead of three miles. The Ordinance was then read as amended. The motion to recommit the ordinance was lost,
Alderman Wilson introduced an ordinance which was read first time, appropriating $100.00 for draining Maysontown
On motion of Alderman Bruggerhoff the fire ordinances of the City of Austin were recom mitted to the Fire Committee
By authority of Article 580 Section 11 of the revised Ordinances of the City of Austin the Mayor nominated William J Johnson & Hugh Hancock as Health Inspectors for the City of Austin to be commissioned for thirty days. On motion the Council confirmed the nomination, A L Purnell City Clerk Read and approved Sept 4. 1888
