Minutes. The minutes of the last meeting of the City Council were adopted as printed. A. Robinson Alderman Anderson submitted a proposition from Alonzo Robinson, proposing, to settle back taxes due: on lots 1 and 2, in block No. 128, which he has recently purchased. The proposal was read and laid over. a + c Officers reports for the month ending July 31-87: The assessor and Collector submitted a report of ad Valorem and license taxes, etc., collected by him during the quarter ending July 31, 1887, as follows: Ad Valorem tax $20.749.36 License tax & etc. 3.786.69 Total $24.536.05 The report of School tax collected during the same period places the amount at $5.710.19. The report was referred to the Committee on Sanitation, and Sewers, with instructions to take immediate action looking to the abatement of the nuisance. City Water Co. 30 City of Austin, approved, April 13, 1882, and all Ordinance a supplementary thereto and amendatory thereof". Ald. Schneider Ald. Schneider Came in. Watts Co. Alderman Anderson introduced an Ordinance "Providing for a supply of water, gas and electricity to the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas, and authorizing Sylvester Watts and his assigns, To Construct, Maintain and operate Water, gas and electric works". Referred to the Street Committee. Alderman Anderson also introduced: Mather Co. An Ordinance granting to The Austin Water, Light and Power Company, their associates, successors or assigns, the right to erect poles and wires for the purpose of Constructing and operating a system of electric light and motive power in the City of Austin. Referred to the Street Committee. A. Robinson Alderman Anderson then offered a Resolution, which was adopted, authorizing the City assessor and Collector to settle Question of back taxes up to January 1, 1887, with Mr. Alonzo Robinson, on lots 1 and 2, block 128, in the City of Austin, by Said Alonzo Robinson paying the Sum of $100 to the City; and that the Mayor be authorized to make a quit Claim deed to Said Robinson for all Claims the City may have in Said lots. D. Fry. The Mayor read the following: Gentlemen of the City Council: At the Request of the City marshal and upon his recommendation, I hereby remit the fine of Dolly Fry. On motion, the Council Consented to the Remission. City Cemetery Alderman Walker introduced the following: Whereas, The Austin City Cemetery has no ground for burial purposes; Therefore be it, Resolved, by the City Council of The City of Austin, That the Sexton be instructed to bury all paupers in Greenwood Cemetery from date. The City Attorney was excused from attending the the meeting of the Council. Matron+ An Ordinance awarding Sections 141 and 147, of Res. Phys. Chapter 9, title 5, of the Revised Civil Ordinances of the City of Austin, was taken up on its third reading and read, and, on motion, passed. The Ordinance relates to the length of term of Office of the resident physician and matron of the hospital, making their terms two years instead of one year. Pease Park. An Ordinance appropriating $200 for the purpose of fencing and putting in gates in the Pease Park, was taken up on its third reading and read, and on motion, postponed until Alderman Bresnah presents it to the City. : Bawdy An Ordinance punishing persons for renting houses houses to be used as houses of public prostitution, within Certain limits in the City of Austin, was taken up on its third reading, and on motion of Alderman Anderson, postponed until the next meeting of the Council.
