Court Fines Dismissed: Mayor recommended remitting criminal fines against two men (Robert Schieffer and Will Lambert) assessed in recorder's court.

Financial Status: The city maintained a healthy general fund balance of $13,138.84 as of early December, with total receipts of nearly $3,000 during the period.

Low Attendance: Only 13 of 20 aldermen were present for the key December 3rd meeting where budget votes took place.

The Mayor and President of the Board of Aldermen being absent, Alderman Morris was called upon to take the chair. Roll Call, present, Alderman Morris. Absent- Aldermen- Assmann, Boland, DeGress, Graham, Haiglers, Jones, Lawrence, Linn, Metz, Newton, Nitschke, North, Pillow, Platt, Schneider, Townsend, Wilson, Wortham, Zillon- 19. Alderman Morris moved that the Council stand adjournned until Tuesday evening, December 3, at 4 o'clock. Carried. Referred to Police Committee. Sabine St. A resolution providing for the grading of a portion of Sabine street was taken up on its third reading and passed. R. Schieffer. Petition of Mr Burditt requesting, that a portion of the money paid by him at sale of Cows at City pound be refunded. Laid over without action. Alderman North moved that the minutes of the last meeting of the City Council stand adopted as printed in the official record. Carried. Dec. Pay. R. Alderman Schneider entered and answered to his name. Alderman Wortham introduced an Ordinance appropriating the sum of $3,100 for the purpose of paying officers and regular employes of the City for the month of November, 1884. It was read first time, and under a suspension of the rules passed by the following vote: Yeas- AldermenAssmann, Boland, Graham, Jones Lawrence, Linn, Morris, Newton, Nitschke, North, Platt, Schneider Wortham, Ziller - 14. H + Shelly. Alderman North introduced an Ordinance approfee- priating the sum of $250 to be paid to Hancock & Shelley On account of their fee for representing the City of Austin in the Case of J.H. Patterson vs. City of Austin, in Travis County district Court. It was read first time and under a suspension of the rules passed. Appd. accts. Alderman Wortham offered an Ordinance appropriating $1985.81 for the purpose of paying approved accounts.
