Minutes of a Called Meeting of the City Council. Austin, Texas, January 25, 1890.
Hon. John McDonald, Mayor, presiding.
Roll Call. Roll Call. Present. Aldermen- Anderson, Assmann, Carleton, Jones, Linn, Morris, North, Phillips, Platt, Schuber, Townsend, Ziller-12.
Call. Absent. Aldermen- Boland, Graham, Hume, Jackson, Metz, Newton, Nutschke, Schneider-8.
Call of Council. The following Call of the Council was then read. Austin, Texas Jany. 25, 1890. To the members of the City Council of the City of Austin. Gentlemen:- We, the undersigned members of the City Council of the City of Austin, hereby call a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin to meet at the Council rooms this the 25th day of Jany, 1890 at 8 o'clock, p.m. for the purpose of taking such action as the Council may see proper to take on a resolution to grant H. A. & J. S. Fitzhugh, the privilege of repairing the building and premises at Lot No. 9, in block No. 71, in the City of Austin, and regulating the width of sidewalk on East of blocks 135 and 138, in the City of Austin. Henry A. Linn, C. E. Anderson, W. Ziller.
Aldermen Jackson and Schneider entered and answered to their names.
Fitzhugh - Alderman Morris introduced a resolution entitled: "A resolution granting to H. A. & J. S. Fitzhugh permission to repair their building on Lot No. 9, block No. 71, in the City of Austin". Alderman Boland entered and answered to his name. The resolution was then adopted. Alderman Schuber introduced an Ordinance entitled

576 Sidewalk. "An Ordinance establishing the width of the Sidewalk On the West Side of Colorado Street, between Eleventh and Thirteenth Streets." It was read first time and under Suspension of the rules was read a Second time, after which Alderman Linn moved to amend Section One by striking out "20 feet" and inserting in lieu thereof "12 feet" to be the width of Said Sidewalk. The motion was lost by the following Vote: Yeas, Aldermen- Boland, Linn, Platt, Schneider Nays- Aldermen- Anderson, Assmann, Carleton, Jackson, Jones, Morris, North, Phillips, Schuber, Townsend, Ziller- 11. The rules were suspended and the ordinance was read a third time and passed by the following Vote: Yeas, Aldermen- Anderson, Assmann, Boland, Carleton, Jackson, Jones, Morris, North, Phillips, Platt, Schneider, Schuber, Townsend, Ziller 14. Nay Alderman Linn The Council then adjourned. Milton Morris, City Clerk.
