Minutes of a Called Meeting of the City Council. Austin, Texas, August 25, 1892. Hon. John McDonald, mayor, presiding.
Roll Call. Present. Aldermen Anderson, Glass, Graham, Linn, Morris, Newton, Nitschke, North, Schuber, Shelley, Townsend, Warmoth, Weyerman - 13. Absent. Aldermen Assemann, Hume, Jackson, Ketchum, Miller, Platt, Schneider, Suter, Ziller - 9. The following call of the Council and Endorsement thereon were read:
Mayors Office, Austin, Texas, Aug. 25, 1892. To the members of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Austin.
Gentlemen - I hereby call a special meeting of City Council of the City of Austin to assemble in the City Hall at 5 o'clock, p.m., this the 25th day of August, 1892, for the purpose of Considering the question of Extending the time in which J. Seyes Hamerbeck, his associates and assigns, may file bonds in accordance with the terms of an Ordinance which was passed by the City Council of the City of Austin on the 6th day of June, 1892, and to take such other action in reference to said Ordinance as the City Council may deem proper. And for the further purpose of Considering the question of Extending the length of the Session of the Board of Appraisers and Equalization of Taxes of the City of Austin and to authorize said Board to give notice of change of assessment by postal Card. 4:20 p.m. Austin, Texas, August 25, 1892. I hereby certify that Aldermen Anderson, Assemann, Glass, Graham, Jackson, Linn, Miller, Morris, Newton, Nitschke, North, Platt, Schneider, Schuber, Shelley, Suter, Townsend, Warmoth and Weyerman were served with a copy of the within call by having it read to each of them in person, and that Aldermen Hume, Ketchum, and Ziller were served by leaving a true copy at each of their places of business. S. M. Platt, Police Officer. Alderman Morris moved that the Board of Appraisors and Equalization of the City of Austin for the year 1892, be authorized to mail notices of changes of assessment of property to all persons whose assessment for said year may be changed by them. The motion was adopted. An Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance to amend Section four of an Ordinance Entitled, 'An Ordinance to create a Board of Equalization of Taxes for the City of Austin, and to prescribe the powers and duties thereof,' approved August 3, 1891," was taken up on its third reading and read, after which a motion was made that the Ordinance do now

pass, which was adopted by the foregoing Vote. Yeas- Aldermen Anderson, Pleas, Graham, Linn, Morris Ahlston, North, Schulen, Shelley, Townsend, Warmoth, Weyerman.- 12. Nay- Alderman Nitschke. Aldermen Plath and Miller entered the Council and answered to their names. Alderman Linn presented an Ordinance entitled, "An Ordinance to amend Section 1 of an Ordinance Entitled "An Ordinance granting the right of way over certain Streets, and the right to cross certain highways in the city of Austin to J. Seyes Handerbook, his associates and assigns, for a Steam railroad to be built from the Western part of Travis County into the city of Austin, approved June 6, 1892". It was read the first time after which motions were made to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on its second and third readings, both of which were adopted by a vote of two-thirds of the whole Council. The ordinance was accordingly read and on motion passed The Council then adjourned. Milton Morris, City Clerk.
