A Call of the Council was moved, duly seconded and adopted. Aldermen Schneider, Warmath, Fischer, Dawson and Taylor entered the Council and answered to their names. The Call of the Council was then suspended and the following Call was read:

To the members of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Austin. Gentlemen: We, the undersigned Aldermen of the City of Austin, call a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin, to assemble in the Council Chamber at the City Hall at 4:00 P.M. this day, Jan: 25. 1894, for the purpose of taking such action in regard to the ordinance fixing Salaries of Officers and Employees of the City of Austin, now pending before the City Council, as the Council may deem proper. Alderman Linn moved to take up the Salary Ordinance and consider the same by sections. Alderman Raymond moved as a substitute that the Ordinance be taken up and adopted as a whole. Alderman Redd entered the Council and answered to his name. The Substitute offered by Alderman Raymond was then adopted by the following vote- Yeas 12. Alderman Shelley then moved to amend Division 8. of Section 1. of the ordinance which fixes the Salary of the Superintendent of Streets at $360. by striking out "$360," and inserting in lieu thereof "$1000," Alderman Linn moved as a substitute that "$360," be stricken out and "$[illegible]" inserted in lieu thereof. Alderman Anderson moved a Call of the Council, which was duly seconded and adopted. Alderman Platt moved to suspend the Call, and the motion prevailed. The substitute offered by Alderman Linn was then lost by the fol lowing vote: Yeas 5: Alderman Anderson- Assmann- Fischer, Linn, Shelley, Nays 15: Aldermen. Dawson Powell Glass Raymond Hancock Ridd Hunne Rakerdean Jackson Schneider Lawless Taylor Platt Townsend. Warmrath. Alderman Anderson moved to amend the pending amendment by striking out "$1000.00" and inserting in lieu thereof "$900.00," which was lost by the following vote: Yeas 7: Aldermen Anderson- Linn Assman Rakerdean Fischer Taylor, Townsend.
