Minutes of a Called Meeting of the City Cancncil. Austin, Texas, January 16, 1895. Hon John Mc Donald, mayor, presiding. Roll called. Present- Aldermen Glues, Glascow, Garth, Haynes, Hume, Jackson Platt, Powell, Rudd, Robertsons, Schneider, Taylor, Tobin, Townsend, Warmoth- 15. Absent- Aldermen Anderson, Asmann, Fischer, Lawless, Linn, Nitschke, Shelby- 7. The following call of the council and certificate thereto attached were then read:
Mayor's Office Austin, Texas, January 16, 1845. Mayors Call. To the Members of the Board of Aldermen of the City of Austin, Gentlemen- I hereby call a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin to assemble in the council chamber at the city hall on this day, January 16, 1845, at 6 oclock pm for the purpose of making an appropriation to employ and defray expenses of attorneys to look after the application of an injunction brought by the Penn Mutual and others which is now pending at New Orleans La. Respectfully John Mc Donald, mayor. 6.pm- Austin, Texas, January 16, 1845. I hereby certify that the following aldermen have been served with the above call by having it read to each of them in person, viz: Anderson, Asmann, Fischer, Glass, Glascow, Garth, Haynes, Hume, Jackson, Lawless, Linn, Platt, Powell, Rudd, Robertsons, Schneider, Shelby, Taylor, Tobin, Townsend and Warmoth, and that Alderman Nitschke was served by a true copy having been left at his place of business, he being out of the city. App'g $1500 for The Mayor then laid before the council an ordinance fees & expenses entitled "An ordinance appropriating the sum of $1500.00 attys in injunc- to pay fees and expenses of attorneys in the matter of thetion suit. application for injunction by the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company et al. vs. City of Austin now pending at New Orleans." The ordinance was read first time after which motions were made in the following order and duly seconded: to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on its second and third readings, and that it do now pass, each of which were adopted by the following vote: Yeas- Aldermen Glass, Glascock, Garth, Haynes, Hume, Jackson, Platt, Powell, Rudd, Robertsons, Schneider, Taylor, Tobin, Townsend, Warmoth- 15.
