Minutes of the City Council Austin Texas January 21, 1896. Hon. Lewis Hancock Mayor presiding. Roll called. Special Meeting Present, Aldermen Fisher, Fischer, Glass, Haynes, Horton, Towles, Platt, Jewett, Robertson, Rosengrew, [illegible], Sayles, Townsend and Zelner. W. [illegible], Aldermen [illegible], North, [illegible], [illegible], Schneider, [illegible] and Sorrell 8. On motion of Alderman [illegible] [illegible] leans [illegible] of minutes. Convention called to order. Roll called. Present: Aldermen, Fischer, Fischer, Glass, Forth, Haynes, Horton, Towles, Platt, Jewett, Robertdean, [illegible], [illegible], Taylor, Townsend and Zelner 15. Absent: [illegible] and Glascock, [illegible], Nitscheke, [illegible], Schneider, Shelley, and Sorrell 7. Call of Council to take action on Ordinance granting Austin Demo Suburban Ry. &c. permission to lay lines &c Car sheds, on W 4th St. The following call of the Council was then read: Austin Texas January No 1896. Thereby call a Special meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin to assemble in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on this day January 21, 1896, at 5 oclock P.M. for the purpose of holding action on the ordinance granting permission to the Austin Demo and Suburban Railway Company to lay their tracks leading from its main line on Fourth Street to the car shed on the old Court House square. Lewis Hancock Mayor. City Marshal's notice of serving of call Austin Texas January 21, 1896, 4 P.M. I hereby certify, that the following Aldermen have been served with the above call, by having it read to each of them per person, viz: Dealy, Fischer, Glascock, Glass, Forth, Haynes, Horton, Towles, [illegible], Nitscheke, Plott, Jewells, Robertdean, Rosengrew, Schneider, Shelley, [illegible], Taylor, John, Townsend and Zelner, and that Alderman Credd has been served by having a true copy left at his place of business, he being out of the City. James B. Suey. City Marshal, MC Ords. placed on its second reading. Alderman Fischer moved to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on its second reading, which motion prevailed by the following vote: Yes Aldermen Fischer, Fischer, Glass, Horton, Haynes, Horton, Towles, Plott, Jewett, Robertdean, [illegible], [illegible], Taylor, Townsend and Zelner 15. Absent [illegible]. That Alderman voted their minds as second time. Second and [illegible] Council: Alderman [illegible] then made the following amendment: Section 1. The permission herein granted shall be subject to all the then existing and obtaining [illegible] of the ordinances approved July 3, 1895, and entitled [illegible], and duly and [illegible], with all religious, directions, and requiring the [illegible] of the City of Austin to annex a deed of conveyance [illegible] Austin [illegible] both at year [illegible] 1 [illegible] that [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] --- Page break --- 320 To operate and maintain street railroads within the City of Austin, and said company shall construct and maintain proper crossings and sideboards. Alderman North moved that the rules be further suspended and the ordinance placed upon its third reading, which motion prevailed by the Ord. placed on its third.... following vote: Yeas Aldermen: Beatty, Fischer, Glass, Gorth, Haynes, Harlow, Fowler, Platt, Bovill, Richardson, Baengren, Humbol, Saylor, Townsend and Tilden 15. Nays: None.
