Minutes of a Called Meeting of the City Council. Austin, Texas May 22, 1896.
Hon. Lewis Hancock, Mayor, presiding. Roll called. Present Aldermen Fischer, Haynes, Roberdeau, Rosengren, Shelley, Skumpf, and Townsend. 7. Absent Aldermen Beaty, Glaseock, Glass, Gorth, Horton, Lawless, Linn, Kitschke, Platt, Powell, Redd, Schneider, Taylor, Tobin and Zilver 15. On motion of Alderman Haynes a call of the Council was ordered. Alderman Fischer moved that the Council have a recess of ten minutes. Adopted. At the end of the recess the Council was called to order by his honor, the Mayor. Roll called. Present Aldermen Beaty, Fischer, Gorth, Haynes, Kitschke, Platt, Redd, Roberdeau, Rosengren, Schneider, Shelley, Skumpf, Tobin, Townsend and Zilver 15. Absent Aldermen Glaseock, Glass, Horton, Lawless, Linn, Powell and Taylor 7. On motion of Alderman Townsend the call of the Council was suspended. The following call of the Mayor with the return of the Marshal was then read:
Mayor- Call for a Special Meeting of Council
Austin Texas May 22nd 1896. I hereby call a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin to assemble in the Council Chamber at the City hall on this the 22nd day of May, 1896, at 5 o'clock P. M., for the purpose of passing an appropriation to pay approved accounts of the Water & Light Plant. Lewis Hancock, Mayor.

I hereby certify that the following Aldermen have been served with the above "call" by having it read to each of them in person viz: Beaty, Fischer, Glass, Gorth, Haynes, Horton, Lawless, Linn, Kitschke, Platt, Powell, Redd, Roberdeau, Rosengren, Schneider, Shelley, Skumpf, Taylor, Tobin, Townsend, and Zilver and that Alderman E.H. Ord. Appropriating $000 to pay Approved Accounts of the Water & Light Fund.
The Mayor then laid before the Council an ordinance appropriating the sum of $5000 out of the Earnings Fund for the purpose of paying approved accounts for operating expenses of the Water & Light Island. Alderman Powell appeared in the Council Chamber and answered to his name. The ordinance was then under suspension of the rules by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Beaty, Fischer, Gorth, Haynes, Kitschke, Platt, Powell, Redd, Roberdeau, Rosengren, Schneider, Shelley, Skumpf, Tobin, Townsend and Zilver 16.
