Minutes of a Called Meeting of the City Council. Austin, Texas, Aug. 29th 1896. Hon. Lewis Hancock, Mayor, presiding. Roll, called. Present, Aldermen Glass, Goch, Hopton, Lawless, Platt, Powell, Robertson, Rosengern, Schneider, Shelley, Stumpf, Taylor, Tobin, Townsend and Zilker 15. Absent, Aldermen Beaty, Fischer, Glascock, Haynes, Linn, Nitschke, and Redd. 7. Call of Council The following call of the Council was read: Austin, Tex., Aug. 29, 1896. We the undersigned members of the City Council of the City of Austin, hereby call a special meeting of the Council to assemble in the City Hall this (Saturday) Evening, August 29, at 5:30, for the purpose of considering an ordinance how pending, amending an ordinance entitled "An ordinance providing for the management and operation of the Water Works and Electric Light and Power Plants of the City of Austin, establishing rules and regulations for the government thereof, and fixing rates for service." G. B. Nitschke, R. C. Robertson, W. D. Shelley, Wm. H. Tobin, A. C. Goch, Francis Fischer, Thos. T. Taylor, Joseph Stumpf.

I hereby certify, that the following named Aldermen have been served with the above call by having it read to each of them in person, viz: Beaty, Fischer, Glass, Goch, Haynes, Hopton, Lawless, Nitschke, Platt, Powell, Redd, Robertson, Rosengern, Schneider, Shelley, Stumpf, Taylor, Tobin, Townsend and Zilker, and that Alderman Linn has been served by a true copy, having been left at his place of residence, he being out of the city; also that a true copy has been left at Alderman Glascock's last known place of residence in the City. Ord. amending certain Aldermen Fischer and Nitschke entered the Council Chamber. sections of W.W. Ord. The Mayor then laid before the Council an ordinance amending certain sections of an ordinance entitled "An ordinance providing for the management and operation of the Water Works, Electric Light and Power Plants of the City of Austin, and establishing rules and regulations for the government thereof and fixing rates for service."

Ord. read 3rd time & final passage
The ordinance was read a third time and passed by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Fischer, Glass, Gorth, Lawless, Stitschne, Platt, Roberdeau, Schneider, Shelley, Skumbt, Taylor, Tobin and Zilker 13. Stays Aldeymen Horton, Powell, Rosengren and Townsend 4. Aldermen Glass and Schneider gave notice that at the next meeting of the Council they would move to reconsider the vote by which this ordinance was passed. Alderman Stitschne moved to reconsider the vote by which the ordinance was passed. Alderman Taylor moved to table the motion. Carried, by the following vote: Yeas, Aldermen Fischer, Glass, Gorth, Lawless, Stitschne, Roberdean, Shelley, Skumbt, Taylor, Tobin and Zilker. 11. Stays, Aldermen Horton, Platt, Powell, Rosengren, Schneider and Townsend 6.
Aldermen Tobin Lawless Fischer appointed W.&L. Committee. Walter Johnson appointed in Charge of Power House and H. A. Stuckey in charge of Outside works to be Tempo- rary Superintendents, and Confirmed by Council
The Mayor announced the appointment of Aldermen Tobin, Lawless and Fischer as the Water and Light Committee provided for in the ordinance. The Mayor nominated, Walter Johnson in charge of the Power house and H. A. Stuckey in charge of the Outside works to be Temporary Superintendents and asked their confirmation Alderman Taylor moved that the nominations made by the Mayor be confirmed, which motion prevailed by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Fischer, Gorth, Horton, Lawless, Stitschne, Platt, Powell, Roberdeau, Rosengren, Schneider, Shelley, Skumbt, Taylor, Tobin, Townsend and Zilker 16. Stays Alderman Glass 1. On motion the Council adjourned.
