Austin Dam Damage Claim Settled for $450
• Dam damage payout approved: The council passed an ordinance to pay T.S. Hughes $450 in damages caused by the city's dam construction project.
• Special meeting called: Aldermen requested and the mayor approved a special October 7th meeting specifically to address Hughes's damage claim.
• Attendance issues: The initial meeting lacked a quorum (not enough members present), forcing a 10-minute recess before enough aldermen arrived to conduct business.
• Official notice procedures: The city marshal personally served meeting notices to most aldermen, with copies left at businesses or homes for those not immediately available.
