Minutes of a Regular Meeting of the City Council. Austin, Texas, Oct. 14th 1895.
Hon. Lewis Johnson, Mayor, presiding Roll called. Present Aldermen Belvin, Hughes, Horton, Maddox, Miller, Platt, Powell, Redd, Stump, Townsend and Grier 11 Absent Aldermen Deats, Fischer, Kuhn, Lawless, Linn, Nitschke, Roberbeau, Rosmgren, Schneider, Shelley and Taylor. 11. A call of the Council was moved and seconded Absent Aldermen: Deats, Fischer, Kuhn, Lawless, Linn, Nitschke, Roberteau, Rosmgren, Schneider, Shelley and Taylor. 11. The Marshal was directed to bring in the absentees. Aldermen Fischer and Kuhn entered the Council Chamber. On motion the call of the Council was suspended. On motion of Alderman Redd, the minutes of the last regular and subsequent called meetings were approved as printed without reading.
Petitions, Etc.
The Mayor laid before the Council a communication from the ClerClk. Dews aut. to purchase asking authority to purchase certain record books, etc., for the use of the certain books for Clerical office. On motion the request was granted. his office. Pet. of L. Tex regarding taxes The Mayor laid before the Council a petition of Leonard Tex, in regard for 1896 and 1897. to taxes for 1896 and 1897. The petition was read, and on motion, was Ald. Stump excused referred to the Claims and Accounts Committee and the City Attorney. On motion Alderman Stump was excused from further attendance at this session of the Council. Aldermen Rosengarten Schneider and Nitschke entered the Council Chamber. Pet. of G.F. Hamilton regard- The Mayor then laid before the Council, petition of G.F. Hamilton, ining taxes for 1896 & 1897. regard to taxes for 1896 and 1897. The petition was read, and on motion, was referred to the Committee on Claims and Accounts and the City Attorney.
Pet. of Frank Brown in The Mayor then laid before the Council, petition of Frank Brown, regard to gutter on East 6th St. in regard to gutter on East Sixth Street. Read and on motion referred to the Street Committee.
Reports of Committees.
Police Com. report on City Alderman Powell, for the Police Committee, to whom was referred the Marshals report for Sept. report of the City Marshal for the month of September, presented a report stating that the reports had been examined and found correct. On motion the report of the Committee was adopted.
Unfinished Business.
Ord. for a Board of The Mayor laid before the Council, an ordinance providing for a Board Plumbers, etc. of Plumbers, etc., The ordinance was read the third time. Referred to Special Com.: Alderman Nitschke moved that the ordinance be referred to a special Committee of five, and that they invite the Plumbers and Architects of the City, to meet with them, and discuss the ordinance, which motion prevailed, and the Mayor appointed to the Special Committee Aldermen [illegible] [illegible] and [illegible].

Extra Street Work Galena Street Work. The ordinance was passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Beloin, Fischer, Haynes, Horton, Kuhn, Maddox, Miller, Nitschke, Platt, Powell, Redd, Rosengren, Schneider, Townsend and Zilver 15. Nays None.
Ord. to Amend Articles 29 and By Alderman Maddox. An ordinance to amend Articles 29 and 31, Chapt. 31 Chapt. 6 Tit. x of 6, Title x, of the Revised Penal Ordinances of the City. Revised Penal Ord. The ordinance was read first time. Alderman Lawless entered the Council Chamber. Alderman Maddox moved that the ordinance be referred to the ordinance committee, which motion prevailed by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Beloin, Fischer, Horton, Kuhn, Maddox, Miller, Powell, Townsend and Zilver 9. Nays Aldermen Haynes, Lawless, Nitschke, Platt, Redd, Rosengren and Schneider 7. On motion the Council adjourned.
