Present, Aldermen, Beaty, Brady, Crockett, Haynes, Norton, Heslin, Maddox, Miller Morris, Nitschke, Powell, Read, Rosingreen, Rudey, & Stempel 15, Absent, Aldermen, Belvin, Fehr, Fiescher, Groos, McLemore, Wachter[illegible], 7. Alderman Powell moved that the action of the Marshal appointing Jos. Evans, a Special Policeman during the month of July in place of Griggard suspended, be approved and the Clerk authorized and directed to draw Warrant for Evans for the time to serve. Which motion prevailed. By Alderman Norton, An Ordinance appropriating the sum of $100. to purchase & place an Iron Gate at the south entrance of the City Cemetery. The Ordinance was passed under suspension of the rules by the following Vote; Yeas. Rept. of Special Comm. Alderman, Maddox, for the Special Committee appointed to investigate the to investigate Sewer sewer question, presented a report stating that they had not had the time question. to confer with the U.S. and State Authorities and the Sewer Company and therefore moved that the matter be referred to the incoming Council. The report was adopted. Smith, to erect a stairway to building at corner of East 6th & Braggs Sts. together with the report of the Fire Commissioners on same. On motion the petition & report was ordered filed. Alderman Nooter for the Special Committee on the Communication of Compromi[illegible] the City Attorney looking to a compromise of the case of Cornelia Hall.
