That Whereas on the 15th day of May A.D. 1899 the said Council enacted an ordinance declaring an election to obtain the Consent of the property tax paying qualified Voters of the City of Austin, to the extension by the City Council of the bonded indebtedness of the City of Austin, in the sum of fifty thousand dollars, for the purpose of erecting a High School Building for said City. And Whereas, persuant to said ordinance, which was duly approved on the 19th day of May A.D. 1899, by the Hon pres L. McCall Mayor of said City, and persuant to a proclamation issued by said Mayor, the [illegible] day of thereto, which proclamation was duly published and posted for more than thirty days preceeding said election in accordance with the ordinances of the City regulating the holding of City elections and providing the procedure therefor, An election was duly held on the 26th day of June A.D. 1899, at which election it appears from the returns Made and Counted and duly returned in accordance with the Law, 648 duly qualified electors Voted in favor

Amend by adding at the end of Article 9 Sec 1 the following Whenever any person shall offer for sale any second hand article to any dealer above described, unless the said dealer is personally acquainted with such person so offering such article, the said dealer shall require such person to be identified before purchasing such Article Alderman Glass moved to amend the ordinance by adding in the Caption and in Section 1. after the word Pawnbroker, the word "Jeweller" which motion prevailed.
