206 Regular Meeting of the City Council Austin Texas Sept 18th 1899 Hon Jno D McCall Mayor presiding Role Called Presents Aldermen Dunham Fischer Morris Mortimen Nolen & Stumpf 6 Absents Alderman Glass 1 On motion the minutes were approved as recorded without reading Reports of Standing Committees St Comr rept Alderman Fischer for the Street Committee to whom was referred pet Singleton the petition of J.W.D. Singleton asking damages to Harness caused by a hole in the streets, presented a report recommending that the claim be allowed for the amounts asked for, viz $6.00 On motion the report of the Committee was adopted St St rep rept Alderman Fischer for the Street Committee to whom was to have many referred a petition from Citizens of South Austin asking st repaired to have Mary Street repaired, presented a Verbal report recommending that the matter be delayed for the present. The report was adopted. Fin Com rep ord Alderman Stumpf for the Finance Committee to whom ord to redeem was referred an ordinance, permitting owners of property ised property purchased by the City at foreclosure Sale for for taxes dues to redeem the same within Sixty days, by paying the amount of such dues and all Court Costs, together with Six per Cent interest thereon for the date of such Sales, presented a report recommending the passage of the ordinance. The report was adopted Alderman Dunham for the ordinance Committee to whom was referred an ordinance, regulating the running and maintaining of electric wires and plants in the City of Austin, presented a report recommending the passage of the ordinance. The report of the Committee was adopted. Rept W&L The Mayor laid before the Council, the report of the Water Commission for and Light Commission for the quarter ending Aug 31st 1899 one aug 31 99 which was read and on motion was referred to the water and Light Committee Unfinished Business Ord reg ore The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance regulating Electric Wires the running and maintaining electric wires and plants in the City of Austin. The ordinance was then read a third time and passed ord. designating The Mayor then laid before the Council an ordinance to market place designate Certain Territory within the City of Austin as a Market place - The ordinance was read the third time and passed. J.P.Robinson The Mayor then laid before the Council the Message of the prove of Bd Mayor laid before the Council at the last meeting of same, but of Equalization not acted upon, presenting the name of Jacob Robinson Jr as a member of the Board of Equalization Alderman Stumff that the Council now proceed to Vote upon his Confirmation and Alderman Fischer moved that the Vote be taken by ballot - The Mayor appointed Aldermen Stumff and Morris as tellers.
