McCall Mayor Presiding Roll Called Present Aldermen Dunham Glass Morris Mortimer Nolen Stumpf 6 Absent Alderman Fischer 1 On motion of Alderman Morris the minutes were approved as recorded without reading Petitions memorials etc By Alderman Dunham Petition of Citizens asking that a fine [illegible] [illegible] fine assessed against Harry Brown, in the Mayors Court be remitted Harry Brown The mayor having approved the petition, it was granted The Mayor laid before the Council a petition from Citizens asking P.& Cit. to appoint the appointment of a Committee of Aldermen and Citizens to Com to investigate investigate and inquire into the condition of the City's Water & Light and Plant Plant, to ascertain the cost of erecting auxiliary steam plants, and to inquire into the condition of the old water Car plants, to ascertain if it Can be purchased and if so upon what terms and to report their findings to the City Council. etc On motion the petition was laid over to come up under the head of new business By Alderman Lewis. Petition of J.W. Nursett for permission to Pet Nursett to remove wagon scales and to erect an Iron Clad Office remove Scales & building within the fire limits. On motion that portion erect building of the petition asking permission to remove scales was granted and the remainder was referred to the fire Commissioners By Alderman Glass. Communication from Mrs A Kenn Mrs Kenna regarding Stunk Pipe Near her building - On motion to stand Pipe matter was referred to the City Engineer with authority to act By Alderman Morris - Petition of Mrs C.A. Trimble regarding Mrs Trimble back taxes - Read and on motion referred to the Finance back taxes Committee Unfinished business The Mayor laid before the Council an ordinance to put in operation the Corporation Court. Plant with which to operate the machinery, and, Whereas each shut down causes untold trouble, expense and anxiety among the citizens of Austin and Militate Seriously against the growth and development of the City, & Whereas the recurrence of such Conditions can be guarded against by supplementing the present water Light and Power Plant of the City by an auxilliary Steam Plant Therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin that a Committee of Citizens Consisting of Messrs Jas R Johnson Edward Sanders D. A. McFall and William Feldman be requested to meet with the Water Light Committee of this Council in an advisory Capacity and that said joint Committee look into and investigate thoroughly the present Conditions Surrounding the City Water Light Plant the necessity for supplementing Same and the best available Method for so doing and report than findings and recommendations to this Council at the earliest practical moment Consistent
