Called meeting of the City Council Austin Texas April 10, 1900 Hon Jno.D.McCleall mayor presiding Roll Called Present Aldermen Dunham Discher Glass Mortimer Nolen and Stumph 6 Absent Alderman Morris 1 The following Call of the Council was read Mayors Office, Austin Texas 4/9/1900 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin is hereby called to convene in the Council Chamber on Tuesday April 10th 1900 at 6 o'clock P.M. for the purpose of hearing a report from the street Committee on the advisability and Cost of Co-operating with the County Authorities in repairing the approaches to the Avenue Bridge over the Colorado River and also to receive on said report, such other matters as may be lawfully brought before said meeting. including the making of an appropriation to make the repairs above Mentioned Jno.D.McCleall Mayor Francis Discher Joseph Stumph H.E.Nolen Austin Texas April 10th 1900. I hereby Certify that the above Call has been served by being read to each of the following Aldermen towit: W.A.Glass J.H.Dunham H.E.Nolen Joseph Stumph P.A.Mortimer Francis Discher Wilton Morris not found A.J.Brown City Clerk Alderman Discher for the Street Committee presented the following report which was read and adopted Austin Texas April 10th 1900. To the Honorable Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Austin! Gentlemen! Your Committee on streets to whom was referred the matter of Conferring with the County Commissioners Court on the subject of repairing the Long Ave bridge across the Colorado river and its approaches, beg leave to report that said Commissioners Court has agreed to put said Long Ave road bridge in first-class condition provided the Council will pay to said County the sum $2000. Estimated total Cost of the work is $4500. We hereby recommend that the City accept said proposition and appropriate said sum of $2000 for said purpose Francis Discher Joseph Stumph H.E.Nolen Committee --- Page break --- 296 By Alderman Fischer an ordinance appropriating the sum of $2000. for the purpose of paying for repairing the southern approach to the Congress Avenue bridge across the Colorado River under the direction of the County Commissioners Court and the City Engineer The ordinance was passed under suspension of the rules by the following vote Yeas Aldermen Dunham, Fischer, Glass, Mortmen, Nolen, Rittsoff, & Nays None. Alderman Fischer offered the following resolution which was read and adopted "Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin; That the City Engineer be and is hereby instructed to make an estimate of the cost of a bridge across Shoal Creek on West 12th Street adequate to carry the water of said Creek and report to the next meeting of the Council On Motion the Council adjourned.
