In motion the minutes were approved as recorded by the clerk without reading. Petitions Memorials etc. Pet. Mary 7th By the Mayor. Petition of Mary D. and Bessie G. Miller D. Report St Alderman Fischer for the street Committee to whom was Common Pet referred a petition of Wm. Shife et al asking an appropriation Shife et al of $6750. for street work on North Congress Avenue and Street work Lavacas Street, presented a report recommending that the sum of $1800.- be appropriated for that purpose, and that $500.- additional be paid him out of next years Street fund, when available. On Motion the report was adopted. Report St Alderman Fischer for the street Committee to whom was Com. Ordinance referred an Ordinance appropriating the sum of $2000.St work for Street work in the 4th ward. presented a report recommending 4th ward that the sum of $1500.- be appropriated for that purpose. On Motion the report was laid over to come up with the ordinance under the head of unfinished business. Rel. Com. Alderman Dunham for the Claims and accounts Committee " " to whom was referred the petition of Geo. P. 372 The wagon laid before the Council An Ordinance Appropriating the Sum of $2000.00 for Street work in the 4th Ward Ord $2000.00 of work in the 4th The Ordinance was read the second time Alderman Fischer moved to amend the Caption and the body of the ordinance by striking the words "$2000" and inserting the words $1500. which Motion prevailed. Amended Alderman Dunham moved to amend by striking out in the Caption of the ordinance the figures $1500. and inserting in lieu thereof the figures $3000. and by adding the following at the end of Section 1" "Section 1 1/2 And that the sum of fifteen hundred dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the Street bond fund for improving the Streets in the 5th Ward" The amendment was adopted. Alderman Ultimen offered the following amendment which was read and adopted Amended Sec 2. The sum of fifteen hundred dollars for improving Streets in the sixth Ward, the Streets to be improved, and the particular portions thereof, to be designated by the Alderman from said Ward, said work to be done by Contract" Alderman Glass offered the following Amendment, "Add Amended Section 3. The sum of fifteen hundred dollars for improving Streets in the 7th Ward, the Streets to be improved and the particular portions thereof to be designated by the Alderman from Said Ward, and the work to be done by Contract" The amendment was adopted. Alderman Nolan moved to further amend the ordinance Amended by adding the sum of fifteen hundred dollars for improving the Streets in the first Ward; the work to be done by Contract and at places to be designated by the Alderman from Said Ward" which motion prevailed. Amended On Motion the Caption and body of the ordinance was so Amended as to make the total Amount appropriated by the ordinance to be $7500Alderman Fischer moved to suspend the rule and place the ordinance on its third reading which Motion prevailed by the following Vote Yeas Alderman Dunham Glass Ultimen Nolan C Strumph 5 Nays Alderman Fischer 1 Passed The ordinance was then read the third time and passed by the following Vote Yeas Alderman Dunham Glass Ultimen Nolan C Strumph 5 Nays Alderman Fischer 1 By Alderman Fischer An ordinance appropriating The Sum of $1800- for the purpose of improving North Congress Avenue and the Hyde Park Speedway.

The ordinance was read the first time and a motion made to suspend the rule and place the ordinance on its second reading which motion was lost by the following Vote Yeas Aldermen Fischer + Nolen 2 Nays Aldermen Dunham Glass Mortimer Stumph 4 Auditing Com On motion of Alderman Glass the Auditing Committee granted further were granted ten days additional time in which to complete time their works. Engineer By Alderman Glass. Resolution authorizing the City Engineer authorized to to build a fence back of the City Hall lot for the protection build fence of City mules. On motion the resolution was adoptedCity Stables By Alderman Glass An ordinance appropriating the sum of $1000. out of the General fund for the purpose of paying for $500. for extra labor, Teams and material for streets St work The ordinance was read the first time and on motion the rule was suspended and the ordinance was read a second time by the following Vote Yeas Aldermen Dunham Glass Mortimer Nolen & Stumph 6 Nays Alderman Fischer 1 Passed Alderman Stumph moved to amend by striking out in the Captions and body of the ordinance the words "$500." and inserting in lieu thereof the words "$1000." which motion prevailed.
