Alderman Dains entered the Council Chamber. Petitions, memorials etc. Pet S. H. Weaver By Alderman Shumate - Petition of S. H. Weaver to have his taxes Introduction reduced, having had his house destroyed by fire. Read and of taxes on motion referred to the Committee on claims & accounts L.A. Juhring By Alderman Shelley. Petition of L.A. Juhring asking damages for damages to Cow. Read and on motion referred to the claims and accounts Committee Reports of City officers Reports City The Chair laid before the Council the reports of City Officers for officers the month of Nov. 1901, which were on motion referred to their appropriate Committees, without reading, except the report of the Treasurer which was read and referred to the Finance Committee. Reports of standing Committees Ref: Finance Alderman Waddoy for the Finance Committee presented a Com. purchase report, stating that they had purchased for the sinking fund of the of Water & Light Water & Light bonds, $6000.00 of 5% water & light bonds at 80% interest bonds. & they recommend that said bonds be cancelled and destroyed Finance Com On Motion the report of the Committee was adopted on officers report Alderman Wadday for the Finance Committee to whom was referred the reports of the Assessor & Collector, the Clerk and the Treasurer for the month of October 1901, presented a report stating that they had examined the reports and found them correct. On Motion the report of the Committee was adopted Cemetery Com Alderman Ulich for the Cemetery Committee to whom was Interim Report referred the report of the City Sexton for the month of October 1901 presented a report stating that they had carefully examined said report and found same to be correct. The report was adopted Hospital Com Alderman Kibbe for the Hospital Committee to whom was on Physician referred the report of the Physician for the month of Oct. 1901, report presented a report stating that upon examination they had found same to be correct. On motion the report was adopted. Fire Com on Alderman Schneider for the Fire Committee to whom was G. A. Brush referred the petition of G. A. Brush to erect a stairway or make other improvements to building within the fire limits presented a report recommending that the petition be granted. On motion the report of the Committee was adopted. --- Page break --- 594 Claims + account Alderman Low for the Claims + accounts Committee to whom contract damages was referred to have his 1900 Assessment recommending that the petition be authorized as prayed for. On motion the report was adopted B + C. on st. res. Alderman Low for the claims + accounts Committee to whom for damages was referred the petition of Max Von Homeycan for damages Presented a report recommending that the petition be Not granted. On motion the Committee report was adopted. Schneider order Alderman Schneider for the Fire Commissioners to whom to purchase hose was referred the ordinance appropriating the sum of + drying Towers. $1,500. for the purpose of purchasing hose for the Fire Dept Presented a report recommending the passage of the ordinance and further that an appropriation be made of $1,500. to purchase and erect drying Towers for the Dept On motion the report was adopted New business Small pox Ord. By Alderman Shelley An Ordinance prescribing regulations to prevent the spreading of small pox within the City of Austin and fixing penalties for the violation of such regulations. The ordinance was read the first time and on motion the rule was suspended and the ordinance placed on its second reading by the following vote. Appr. for drying By Aldermen Schneider An Ordinance appropriating the sum hose, Fire Dept. of $100. for the purpose of purchasing drying towers for the use of the Fire Department. Comm. to destroy Aldermen Nitschke moved that a Committee of three be bonds purchased appointed to destroy the bonds purchased by the Finance by sinking fund. Committee for the Sinking fund. Res to purchase blankets for prison Alderman Maddax offered a resolution authorizing the CityMarshal to purchase blankets for the use of the prison at Police Station. On Motion the resolution was adopted. Alderman Maddax was called to the chair. $4500 to purchase fire hose Alderman Thurnpff called up the ordinance appropriating the sum of $4500 for the purpose of purchasing fire hose The ordinance was read the second time. Alderman Thurnpff moved to amend the ordinance by adding after the figures "$4500." the words "or so much thereof as may be necessary."
