622 Regular Meeting of the City Council Austin Texas. Feby 4th 1902 Hon R. O. Hilo Mayor Presiding- Roll called Present Aldermen Crocker Davis Low Waldon Mortimer Nitschke Redd Schneider Shelley Thurman Thusty Wells. 12. Absent Aldermen Annie. 1 (On motion the reading of the Minutes was postponed for the present Petitions Memorials etc The Mayor laid before the Council a communication from W. B. Walsh Realty Association suggesting that one of the free Austin City Telephones be furnished the City by the Austin City Telephone Co to be located in the Post office.The communication was read and on motion was laid over to be referred to a Committee to be appointed later, to locate said free Phones. Proposition By Alderman Redd. Proposition of Mrs Lucy S. Davis toMrs Davis Sell certain real estate for street purposes. Read and on to strech Motion referred to the street Committee Reports of Standing Committees St Comm. Alderman Nitschke for the Street Committee to whom was on Petri referred the petition of Henry Petri, asking the removal of certain obstructions in Sixth and Street, presented a report recommending that the petition be granted and that same be ordered removed at once On motion the report was adopted Finance Alderman Waldon for the Finance Committee made a Comm. on Iron Verbal report stating that they had, had an interview Bridge and with the County Commissioners in reference to the Hospital Claim of Travis County for re-flooring the Bridge across the Colorado River, and also in regard to the support of the City & County Hospital He moved that a Committee Consisting of Two Aldermen and the City Attorney be appointed to confer with the Commisioners Court and see what arrangement could be made looking to a Settlement of these matters The motion was adopted and Aldermen Schneider and Mortimer with the City Attorney were appointed as said Committee Hospital Com. Alderman Davis for the Hospital Committee to whom was referred the report of the City Physician for the month of Jany 1902, presented a report stating that they had Carefully examined same and found it CorrectAlderman Schneider moved that the report be re referred to the Committee for Correction, stating the discrepancies in same had been discovered. 623 The Hospital Committee presented the report of the Matron Monthly for the month of January 1902, which was read and on motion Report of Matron referred to the Finance Committee Hospital Alderman Wortimen was excused from further Attendance at this Session of the Council New business Alderman Schneider offered the following resolution Whereas, under the ordinance granting a franchise to the Austin City Telephone Co. the City is to receive fifteen Telephones Council of free, to be located by the City Council free Phones Therefore, Be it resolved that a Committee of Fricke be appointed to locate said Phones and to report to the Council at its next regular meeting The resolution was adopted. and the Mayor appointed Aldermen Schneider, Shelley, Redd, Low and Nitschke as Said Committee Alderman Maddox presented a bill from City Treasurer of City Treasy Hilliard for exchange, expressage etc on bonds exchanged. Exchange The same was read and on motion was laid over to come up with an Ordinance appropriating an amount to pay same. By Alderman Maddox, An Ordinance for providing for the Ord. refusing refu- funding of bonds at present held by the various sinking bonds held by funds accounts of the City. By Alderman Nitschke a resolution inviting Admiral Res. inviting Ashley to visit the City of Austin on his contemplated Adm’l trip of the South West The resolution was unanimously adopted. By Alderman Maddox an ordinance appropriating the sum of $25.00 for the purpose of paying approved dgs. Alderman Wadded moved to amend the Ordinance by adding "Hutchings Printing Co for printing brief in the case of Wiball vs the City $159" Which Amendment was adopted. Alderman Wadded moved to further amend by striking out the items "for printing bonds and for services incident to the Amounting in the aggregate to $463." also to amend the title of the ordinance by striking out "$948.49 and inserting in lieu thereof the amount $543.64" The Amendments were adopted and the Ordinance as Amended was passed by the following vote Yeas Alderman Crooker, Davis, Low, Wadded, Wiball, Redd, Schneider, Shelley, Shumate, Stumpf, Weith 11 Nays none.
