Reports of City Officers- Reports The Mayor laid before the Council the reports of City Officers City Officers for the month of August 1902, which were on motion referred to their appropriate Committees without reading Report of Streetling Committee Changing Alderman Nitschke for the Street Committee, to whom was names of streets referred an ordinance changing the names of Certain streets in the City presented a report recommending that the ordinance do not pass. The report was adopted Mrs. E. J. Davis Alderman Nitschke for the Street Committee to whom was Street referred the petition of Mrs. E. J. Davis asking the City to purchase a Certain strip of ground to be used for street purposes, presented a report recommending that the petition be granted. The report was adopted. Mrs. W. R. Shilhe Alderman Nitschke for the Street Committee to whom was Street referred the petition of Mrs. W. R. Shilhe asking the Council to refund the sum of $15.00 amount paid by him for repairs on the speedway, presented a report recommending that the petition be granted, in future should he desire Any work on speedway, that he present it to the Council And ask for appropriation before doing such work. Saith Thompson Alderman Witschie for the Street Committee to whom to increase was referred a resolution increasing the salary of Salary. 705 Alderman Nitsuke moved that the resolution do not pass which motion prevailed Alderman Nitsuke moved that the regular order of business be suspended and that he be allowed to present a petition, which motion prevailed. Pet of Austin By Alderman Nitsuke, Petition of the Austin Electrical Electrical R.R. Railway for permission to change its line of road so as to continue to 2nd Angeline down Congress Avenue to First Street and thence east on First Street to its terminus On motion the petition was granted.
Alderman Nitsuke offered the following resolution Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, that the Austin Electrical Railway Company is hereby authorized to remove its track, poles and wires from Congress Avenue along East 2nd Street to Trinity Street and south on Trinity Street to First Street, and in lieu thereof it is allowed to track, from Congress Avenue to First Street: Thence eastward on First Street to a connection with its present track, thereupon and to locate all necessary poles for the purpose of stringing its wires thereon. Privileges here granted are in connection with and subject to the same terms and conditions as the ordinance heretofore enacted by this Council granting the right to the Austin Rapid Transit Railway Company and its successors and assigns to construct, equip and operate street Railways in the City of Austin, approved the 26th day of August 1891. The resolution was adopted. New Business Duty of City Alderman Shuman, one of the Committee on charity, stated that Physician as a member of that Committee, which has before it for approval Pauper Cases bills of certain Physicians for services rendered paupers, he would like to be informed as to the duty of the City Physician in pauper cases. On motion the matter was referred to the City Attorney who was requested to furnish the desired information On motion Alderman Redd was excused from further attendance at this session of the Council. Prohibiting By Alderman Shelley, An Ordinance prohibiting the staking Staking in of horses, Cows or mules within the boundaries of the City Cemeteries Cemeteries of the City of Austin or permitting them to run at large in said Cemeteries.
