Employee Compensation Dispute – A sanitary cart driver's petition for back pay during sick leave was sent back to committee after the council couldn't reach agreement, with 9 voting to reconsider and 3 opposing.

Routine City Reports Approved – Monthly reports from city officers including the physician and engineer were reviewed and accepted without major issues.

768 Reguean meeting of the City Council Austin Texas, March 02, 1903 Hon W.D.Shelley President of the Council Presiding Roll Called Present Aldermen Crooker Davis Low Waddox Mortimer Nitschke Redd Schneider Shelley Shummate Stumph 11 Absent Aldermen Hume & Weit 2 On motion the minutes were approved as recorded by the Clerk, without reading Reports of City officers Reports of City officers rec’d The chair laid before the Council the monthly reports of the Clerk, the Physician, the Engineer and Supt for the month of Feby 1903, which were on motion referred to their appropriate Committees without reading. Alderman Weit entered the Council Chamber Reports of standing Committees Hosp. Com. Alderman Redd for the Hospital Committee to whom Physician was referred the report of the City Physician for the month report Jan. of Jany 1903, presented a report stating that Same had been Examined and found Correct. On motion the report was adopted. St Com report Alderman Nitschke for the Street Committee to whom on 5th & Nueces was referred an Ordinance appropriating the sum of Streets. $1500. for the purpose of building a Stone Culvert across Little Shoal Creek at the intersection of 5th & Nueces Streets, presented a report recommending the passage of the ordinance. On motion the report was laid over to Come up with the ordinance under the head of unfinished business. Sanity Com on Alderman Low for the Sanitary Committee to whom was Pet. J.E. Waddox referred the petition of J.E. Waddox for Salary as driver of a Sanitary Cart, during the time he was sick and unable to perform his duties, presented a report recommending that the petition be granted. – Alderman Mortimer moved to adapt the report of the Committee – Alderman Schneider moved as a Substitute that the petition be re-Committed to the Sanitary Committee, the Substitute was adopted by the following Vote Yeas Aldermen Davis Waddox Nitschke Redd Schneider Shelley Shummate Stumph & Weit 9 Nays Aldermen Crooker Low & Mortimer 3 Unfinished business.
