Harry Montgomery City Marshal of the City of Austin, do hereby Certify that the following named Aldermen have been served with the above Call by having it read to each of them in person, Viz: Aldermen Redd, Wacker Smith, Crowther, Shumate, Hume, Schneider Miller, Nitschke, Shelley, and Haynes Alderman Maddox being out of the City a true copy was left at his house and a copy being left at the residence of Alderman Moore, he being sick Respectfully, Harry Montgomery City Marshal Alderman Maddox stated that the Copy of the Call left for him had only two names of Aldermen signed to it. Alderman Shumate stated that he had signed the Call since coming to the Hall Alderman Maddox made the point that the Call was not legal as the Charter required that the Mayor and at least three Aldermen were required to Call a special meeting. Read and on motion referred to the Street Committee. H.O. Bass pound fees By Alderman Hume petition of H.O. Bass, asking to have certain pound fees refunded. Read and on motion referred to the Claims and Accounts Committee. F.E. Button By Alderman Hume petition of F.E. Button for Wagon scale permission to put in wagon scale. Read and on motion referred to the Street Committee with power to act. Reports of City Officers Reports City Officers The Mayor laid before the Council the reports of City officers, except that of the Marshal for the month of August 1903, which were on motion referred to their appropriate Committees without reading. Report of Standing Committees Committee reports Purchase, Alderman Shumate for the Committee on Fire Purchase, Supplies stating that they Apparatus had awarded the contract for furnishing feed for city teams for the term ending Dec 31st 1903 to Austin Prod. The report was adopted. --- Page break --- 85 The Mayor laid before the Council a report of the Five Commission- Five Commissioners upon the petition of Sharp and Pet Sharp & Deats Deats for permission to erect a Wooden awning within the five limits, recommending that the petition be not granted. Aldm Maddox moved that the petition be granted, which motion prevailed.
