White Mayor, presiding Roll Called Present Aldermen Crocken Haynes McCracken Maddoy Miller Moore Witschke Redd Schmieder Shumate Smith Welsh 12 Absent Alderman Hume Shelley 2 On motion Alderman Smith was excused from further attendance at this session of the Council. On motion of Alderman Crocken the minutes were Approved as recorded by the Clerk, without reading Additions Petitions, Memorials &c The Mayor laid before the Council a petition from C.A. C.A. Rumpholl pound Rumpholl asking to have certain pound fees refunded, fees. which was on motion referred to Committee on claims & accounts. Geo. Mendel on By Alderman Shumate, petition of Geo Mendel in building Brazos & 8th regard to a Vacant House Corner Brazos and 8th St streets Read and on motion referred to the Fire & Police Committee. Alderman Shelley & Hume entered the Council Chamber. Reports of City Officers Reports City Officers The Mayor laid before the Council the reports of the Assessor Collector, the Clerk, the Physician, the Sexton for the month of Oct 1903, and that of the Treasurer for the month of Sept 1903, which were on motion referred to their appropriate Committees without reading. Reports Standing Comt. Report of Standing Committees Alderman Welsh for the Cemetery Committee to whom Cemetery Sexton's report was referred the report of the City Sexton for the month of Sept 1903, presented a report stating that same had been examined and found Correct. The report was adopted. Special Sanitary Comt. The Mayor laid before the Council the following report Sheehan Butcher Pen of the Special Sanitary Committee appointed for the 1st Ward. To the Hon. Mayor & Council of Austin Gentlemen: The Your Sanitary Committee for Ward No 1 do herewith report We find our Ward now in good Sanitary Condition, with the exception of Wm. Sheehan's butcher pen This we declare a Nuisance and think it an unsanitary; but it is in a Sanitary Condition and keep it in same, and consequently request that you abate the same at once. 11 Alderman Crooken moved that the Sanitary officer be instructed to go to the Sheehan Slaughter pens every day until further orders, and every time he finds the pens in an unsanitary Condition that he make charges against the Said Sheehan The motion was adopted Charity on resolution Alderman Moore for the Charity Committee to whom for transfer on was referred a resolution in regard to R.R. transportation -tion for paupers. To be paid for by the City, presented a report recommending the passage of the resolution.
