Pelers, asking correction of Assessment Read and on Motion referred to the Committee on claims + accounts. W.E.U. to erect a fountain 6th + Cong Avenue The Mayor laid before the Council a Petition from the W.E.U. asking permission to erect a drinking fountain at the Corner of 6th Street and Congress Avenue which was read and on motion referred to the Street Committee with power to act Ass't L.O. #1. to increase allowance By the Mayor Petition of Austin Hook & Ladder Co #1, asking an increase of allowance for feed + repairs Read and on Motion referred to the Fire Committee Hughes Bros for building permit The Mayor laid before the Council an application from Hughes Bros, for permission to erect a wooden frame shed to be covered with galvanized iron, within the fire limits, together with a communication from the Fire Commissioners, recommending that it be granted. On motion the permit was granted. R.R. Cowan to refund permit fees By Alderman Hume- Petition from R.R. Cowan, asking to have certain permit fees paid by him refunded - Read and on motion referred to the Committee on claims + accounts. Citizens to widen side walk in Congress Avenue By Alderman Moore - Petition of citizens of North Congress Avenue for permission to widen side walk on Congress Avenue from the Capital gate to 19th Street.

120 Read an on motion referred to the City Engineer, with power to act. On motion of Alderman Shumate the vote by which the above petition was referred to the Street Committee was reconsidered, and the petition laid over to come up with an ordinance on the subject, under the head of new business. Reports of City officers Reports City officers The Mayor laid before the Council the reports of the various City officers (except that of the Marshal) for the month of Nov 1908, which were on motion referred to their appropriate Committees, without reading. Reports of Standing Com. Reports Standing Com. Alderman Schneider for the Fire Committee presented Fire on building Mayor's a verbal report upon the condition of the building at Report Cor. San Bragas & 8th Streets, stating that same was in a dilapidated condition and should be repaired or removed but that the Council was without authority to act Ordinance prohibiting Alderman Hume for the Ordinance Committee Cigars to whom was referred an ordinance prohibiting swinging signs on certain streets of the City, presented a report recommending the passage of the Cemetery Sexton Report Ordinance. On Motion the report was adopted. Alderman Ulit for the Cemetery Committee to whom was referred the report of the City Sexton for the month of Oct. 1908, presented a report stating that same had been examined found correct On motion the report was adopted. Resolution to remit fine Fritz Kreagan. Alderman Welit offered the following resolution Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, that the fine of Fritz Kreagan who was convicted in the Mayors Court on Nov 7th 1903, and fined $500 withdrawn for disturbing the peace by using profane and abusive language to Owen [illegible], be and the same is hereby remitted. Alderman Shelley moved to lay the resolution on the table. Alderman Maddos moved as a substitute, that Alderman Welit be permitted to withdraw the resolution - The substitute was adopted City Clerk authorized and Alderman Maddos offered a resolution directing and directed to change monthly instructing the City Clerk to cancel a certain warrant report issued, and to change his monthly report for the month of Oct 1903, so as to conform to the provisions of this resolution.
