Claims & accounts Petition S.H.Vass Alderman Haynes for the Claims & accounts Committee to whom was referred the petition of S.H.Vass for correction of Assessments for 1903, presented a report recommending that the petition be granted and the Assessor & Collector directed to make the correction as asked for. On motion the report was adopted.
Jno Braden damages Alderman Haynes for the Claims & accounts Committee to whom was referred the petition of Jno. Braden for damages presented a report recommending that the petition be not granted. The report was adopted.
Hygiene Physicians report Alderman Thiede for the Hygiene Committee to whom was referred the report of the City Physician for the Month of May 1904, presented a report stating that same had been examined and found correct. On motion the report was adopted.
Purchases Supplies Term ending Dec 31st 1904 Alderman Shumate for the Purchasing Committee, presented a report stating that they had advertised for and recd. bids for supplies for the term ending Dec 31st 1904, and recommending that Contracts be awarded as specified in said report. On motion the report was adopted. On motion of Alderman Groshek the matter of Lueverst the bids for which was not awarded was referred to the Committee for report.
Police, Majority & Minority Ordinance to open road South Madison Alderman Moore entered the Council Chamber. Alderman Shelley for a majority of the Police Committee to whom was referred an ordinance directing the City Marshal to open up a Certain road on the South Side of the River in the first ward presented a report recommending that the ordinance do not pass. Alderman Willon a minority of the Committee presented a report recommending the passage of the ordinance – Both reports were read and discussed by the Council and by Citizens interested Alderman Nitschke moved to substitute the Majority for the Minority report.

Alderman Nitschke moved that consideration of same be postponed until the next regular Meeting of the Council, which Motion prevailed On motion of Alderman Haynes the Engineer was excused from Attendance at this Session of the Council on account of Sickness New business $100. for Cutting Weeds New Business. By Alderman Haynes an ordinance appropriating the sum of $100 for the purpose of cutting weeds in the streets and alleys of the City. Five escape Ordinance By Alderman [illegible] - An ordinance requiring Certain buildings Situated within the City of Austin to be provided with five escapes The ordinance was read the first time and on motion was referred to the ordinance Committee. On motion Alderman Smith was excused from further attendance at this Session of the Council City Atty to report on Alderman Shumate moved that the City Attorney opening Street to Peace be requested to render his opinion in the matter of Parks opening Street to Peace Park, which was referred to him Some time Since, which motion was adopted. Alderman Haynes offered the following resolution which was read and adopted.
On Rebuilding Dam Whereas - Under a resolution passed at the last regular meeting of the City Council, the Honorable Committee of Citizens were requested to continue the correspondence and negotiations they have in hand looking to a Contract for rebuilding of the Dam and the operating of the Water and Light plant of the CityNow therefore - Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, that we heartily favor the rebuilding of our great Dam and the operating of the water and light System of the City, by reliable parties, provided However, that we are assured in such Contract as may be entered into, that our people will be relieved of the heavy bonded debt of the City and that a reasonable maximum rate for water and light be secured both to the people and the City; and that the lake shall be free to all people, Subject only to Such Sanitary and Police Regulations as the Council may make from time to time, And Be it further resolved, that the thanks of the Council be extended to the Committee for their earnest efforts in this direction.
