249 Regular meeting of the City Council Austin, Texas, December 05, 1904 Hon Robt. B. White, Mayor presiding Roll Called Present Aldermen Crocken, Haynes, Kunce, Waaken Waddy, Miller, Moore, Wilsouke, Redd, Schneider, Shelley, Shuwate, Smith, Tuit. Absent. None On motion the minutes were approved as recorded by the Clerk, without reading. Reports City Officers The Mayor laid before the Council the reports of the City ( [illegible] Collector, the Treasurer, the Clerk, the Physician, Fireman and the Engineer for Nov 1904, also the reports of the City Engineer & Marshal for Oct 1904, which were on motion referred to their appropriate Committees without reading. Reports of Standing Committees Street and R.R. Track [illegible] Alderman Wilsouke for the Street Committee to whom was referred an ordinance granting permission to the D&SRR Co. to extend their track on Fourth Street, etc presented a report recommending the passage of said ordinance. On motion the report was adopted. Finance on Reports City Officers Alderman Shelley for the Finance Committee to whom was referred the reports of the Assessor and Collector, the Treasurer and the Clerk for the months of Sept Aug, Sept & Oct, 1904, presented a report, stating that same had been examined and found correct On motion the report was adopted Cemetery on Sexton report Alderman Webb for the Cemetery Committee to whom was referred the reports of the City Sexton for the months of Sept & Oct 1904, presented a report stating that same had been examined and found correct On motion the report was adopted Hospital and Physician report Alderman Redd for the Hospital Committee to whom was referred the report of the City Physician for the months of Oct 1904, presented a report stating that same had been examined and found correct On motion the report was adopted Reports Special Committees Special on Plumbing ordinance Alderman Moore for the Special Committee to whom was referred the Plumbing Ordinance, reported progress and asked for further time in which to report, which request was granted Unfinished business D&SRR Co to extend track on 4th St. The Mayor laid before the Council an Ordinance granting the Denison & Great Northern Railroad Company permission to extend their track on Fourth Street --- Page break --- 250 Ordinance backfillest excavations, Gas + Water pipes Changing Water pipes on Congress Avenue Building Bells + drying tower for Protection Hose Co. Aldermen Schneider & Smoot By Aldermen Hume An ordinance Providing how the backfill of all excavations made by removing Gas and water pipes from Tenth Street and Congress Avenue in the City of Austin, Texas, shall be made. The ordinance was read the first time and on motion was referred to the Fire Committee By Aldermen Weddon An ordinance appropriating the Sum of $ 181.⁶⁰ for the purpose of paying approved accounts Street Dept. The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following Vote Yeas Aldermen Brooks, Haynie, Hume, Macken, Weddon, Miller, Moore, Nitschke, Redd, Schneider, Shelley, Shumate, Smoot, Weit Nays none. 14 By Aldermen Weddon An ordinance appropriating the Sum of $ 60.⁶³ for the purpose of paying certain approved accounts. The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following Vote Yeas Aldermen Crooken, Haynes, Hume, Wacken, Madday, Miller, Moore, Nitschke, Read, Shelley, Shumate, Smith Weiss. Nays None. 13 Build house for By Alderman Nitschke an Ordinance appropriating Ondye Keeper. the sum of $35.00 for the purpose of building a house for Ondye Keeper. The ordinance was read the first time and passed under suspension of the rules by the following Vote Yeas Aldermen Crooken, Haynes, Hume, Wacken, Madday, Miller, Moore, Nitschke, Read, Schneider, Shelley, Shumate, Smith, Weiss. Nays None. 14 Executive Session. Alderman Madday moved that the Council go into an executive session which motion prevailed. By Alderman Madday an Ordinance to employ D. A. McFall to perform Certain services and provide for his Compensation. The Ordinance was read the first time and on motion the rule was suspended and the ordinance placed on Ordinance to employ the second reading by the following Vote. D. A. McFall. Alderman Schneider Moved to Amend Same by inthe second Section the words "advalorum" "for the general fund" The amendment was adopted and the Ordinance as amended was passed under suspension of the rules by the following Vote.
