Called meeting of the City Council Austin, Texas, Jan'y 28th 1905 Hon. R.S. White, Mayor, presiding Roll Called Present Aldermen Crooken, Haynes, Kunze, Madden, Miller, Moore, Nitschke, Redd, Schneider, Shelley, Shumate Smith, Tilich Absent, none. The following Call of the Council was read Austin, Texas, January 27th 1905 Call of Council. A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Austin is hereby called to meet in the Council Chamber at City Hall at 8 o'clock P.M. Saturday, January 28th 1905, for the following purposes, Viz: 1st To fix Salaries of Officers and employees for the year 1905 2nd To Consider and adopt the Budget for the year 1905 3rd To make appropriations to pay approved accounts for Dec. 1904 4th To amend the resolution to locate the new City Hall account, so as to direct the City Treasurer to make the apportionment to said account 5th To make an appropriation to purchase filing Cases for the Assess & Collector and the City Clerks 6th To amend the plumbing ordinance 7th To receive the Permittee report, and act upon the Fraternal ordinance. 8th To make an appropriation to repair the retaining Wall on Colorado River at the foot of Congress Avenue 9th To ratify the action of the Mayor, Fire and Street Committee in allowing the Gas Company to pass its pipe through the top of the Culvert at the intersection of Congress Avenue & 4th street 10th To make an appropriation to refit and repair the Assess & Collectors office R.S. 272 Alderman Moore moved that the Finance Committee be requested to furnish the Council their estimate of receipts and disbursements for the year 1905, which motion prevailed. Alderman Maddex moved that the Council first proceed to fix the Salaries of Officers and employees, whose Salaries are not fixed by the Charter, which motion prevailed. Alderman Maddex moved that the Salaries of Policemen be fixed at the same rate that prevailed for the past two years which motion was adopted. Alderman Shumate moved that the remaining Officers be acted upon separately, which motion prevailed. Alderman Irwin moved that the salary of Council Clerk be fixed at $75.00 per month, as heretofore; which motion prevailed The Salaries of the following named officers were separately considered and fixed as follows, Viz: Bridge Keeper. $60.00 per month Sexton $275.00 " Annum Sanitary Inspector $900.00 " " Plumbing Inspector $900.00 " " Health Officer Hospital $600.00 " " The Salary of Keeper of Parks was fixed at $480.00 per annum by the following vote: Yeas Aldermen Brooke, Haynes, Hume, Whacker, Wilkes Moore, Nitschke, Redd & Shelley, Shumate, Smith & Whit 12 Nays Aldermen Maddex & Schnieder 2 Meetings of Council fixed. New City Hall Alderman Haddox offered the following resolution a/cs. which was read and adopted Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas, That the resolution to create a "New City Hall" account, passed Dec 9th 1904, shall be and is hereby Amended so as to hereafter read as follows, Viz: Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin, Texas, First, That the City Treasurer be and he is hereby instructed and directed to open an account to be known & called "New City Hall account." Second, That the City Treasurer be and he is hereby directed to deposit to the Credit of Said New City Hall account" Ten per Cent of all monies collected for the General Revenue account on the advalorum assessment after deducting therefrom the twenty five per cent set aside by the City Charter for street work. Third, That the City Treasurer be and he is hereby directed to transfer from the General Fund account to the new City Hall account the sum of Six thousand Dollars.
Market Com Alderman Haddox offered the following resolution authorized to which was read and adopted purchase filing Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Austin; Cases That the Market Committee be authorized to purchase for the City Assessor Collector and the City Clerk, two filing cases for use in their offices.
